find info out about someone's work history? Why someone had gotten fired in the past.

I think it is subject to civil pursuit, if not criminal. Not to ask, but if someone tells, then thay put themselves at risk of being sued.

When the person leaves the company usually they sign a release about whether or not they would like certain information released about them for example to a potential employer. Otherwise, the only thing the employer can do is confirm that the person worked there and the dates of employment.
