We went MOH dress shopping yesterday... (I don't have bms) and my sister is a size 16 (largely due to bust but is heavier in general) and in her words-the dresses were half her size. Oh and she's short. So we couldn't get any idea about what the dress would/could look like on her. We even tried just putting them up against her, and going to Estelle's (whoa has that place changed btw) to find dresses with similar styles in her size to get an idea. Nothing worked out.
Anyone with advice and/or pics for bm dresses in size 14+?? What do we do??

My BMs were all different sizes, I had them in 2 piece dresses by Alfred Angelo, I have pictures in my album.

I'm a street size 10-12 and found a BM dress at David's in size 16 for my sister's wedding 4 yrs ago. I was able to try on many different dresses in all styles and several sizes to see which was most comfortable and fit the best. Try the Northern Blvd store in Queens, during the week if possible, as they get crowded on weekends.

I've tried things on at David's Bridal to get an idea of a style that works and then found a similar dress at another store and ordered it.

I went to davids in westbury on a Tuesday nite and it was very nice and quite the older ladie who helped us was great told her what style and she pulled it out and we were done with in an hour.
Ordered them and had them with in 3 Weeks
I have no complaints with Davids.

If I understood correctly, your sister is the only maid you are getting a dress for?
Then I would say just let her buy something hot off the rack!

We had wonderful experience with David's. My MOH even found her dress & size. We then looked on computer & got for half price. What a deal!

I know some people have had not so positive experiences with db (including me), but they are good for plus sizes. Even if you dont buy the dress there, you could always just go there to get an idea of styles that will look good on her shape. Two things: I wear a street size 4-6 and db size 8-10. They run small. They are also not really cut for large chested girls, at least thats what I've found. I have to go up at least 1-2 sizes to fit my chest. So she may have to get a bigger size and thentailor the rest down to her waist etc. Good luck!
