My front yard is mostly shade, so I won't show you pics of that...why don't you post pics of your front yard, it might be easier for people to recommend trees/shrubs after they see your space.

You may want to take several pics of your yard and go to a local garden center, and speak with someone knowledgable about recommendations.

My family (aunts, uncles, cousins...the list goes on) owns garden centers all over Suffolk County, and this is quite common, for people to come in with pics of their yard.

my SIL is a landscape architect (sp?) she works in Huntington, if your interested I can give you the phone #, I will try to post pics of my house she designed the whole front,

ohh, I'd love to see pics too. I'm not so much a fan of our big bulbous bushes (though I do like the japanese maple tree and I planted tulips in all the beds for the spring...)

Here's the front of our house. The only plans so far is to plant a japanese maple tree on the left and a cherry blossom tree on the right. I need some plant and flower ideas for in front of the windows.

not really close up but only pic i have at the moment. i'm sure i'll have lots more once we have our 1st full spring and summer in the hosue

The first few are from when we first planted. There's also a pic of what the guy who did our path & porch mocked up for us. And the last picture is Halloween 2002 (I think).
The shrubs right up against the foundation are YEWS, in front of those are alternating dwarf rhodos and azaelas. I have to dwarf lilacs near the porch steps and then two wigelias in each corner by the area bewteen the porch & the garage.
