Please post your Ceremony Intermission Music / Special Song(s)

Hi Ladies:

So I pretty much know which songs I'd like for a prelude, processional and recessional.

But in the middle of our ceremony, shouldn't there be an 'intermission song'? A special song to listen to after the sermon?

Every single catholic bride in my family has had 'Ave Maria' sung at the intermission, but since my FH is protestant, he doesn't like the song and wants something else, but doesn't offer any suggestions...

Non-Catholic Brides: what are you doing as an 'intermission' song, or any other special song in your ceremony? I really need your help.

I am Catholic and we are having 'The Wedding Song' which I have also heard referred to as There is Love. It is a very pretty song.

i am not sure what you mean by intermission during a catholic ceremony...we are having a catholic mass and during the lighting of our unity candle we are having 'one hand, one heart' from west side story sung...

here are some other options that were given to us:
grow old with me - lennon

the wedding song - There is Love

the irish wedding song - noonan

the gift of love - o waly waly

ave maria - schubert

I am Lutheran and love 'Ave Maria'

I haven't completely decided on my music yet but I do know that I want my ceremony to be spiritual even though I'm holding at the hall. My favorite hymns are:
'How Great Thou Art'
'Beautiful Savior'
'What Wonderous Love Is This'
'Blest Be The Ties That Bind'
'The King of Love My Shepherd Is'
'Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing'
'Of the Father's Love Begotten'
'Rock of Ages'
'Just as I Am'
'Amazing Grace'

We used Grow Old With me by Mary Chapin Carpenter. It is such a beautiful song!! Here are the lyrics.

Grow Old With Me

Grow old along with me
The best is yet to be
When our time has come
We will be as one
God bless our love
God bless our love
Grow old along with me
Two branches of one tree
Face the setting sun
When the day is done
God bless our love
God bless our love
Spending our lives together
Man and wife together
World without end
World without end
Grow old along with me
Whatever fate decrees
We will see it through
For our love is true
God bless our love
God bless our love

Re: Please post your Ceremony Intermission Music / Special Song(s)

Let me clarify:

I want additional music in my service besides the prelude, processional and recessional music.

I know that in a traditional catholic ceremony you have songs for psalms, presentation of gifts, communion, unity candle, etc. The one song I love is 'Ave Maria', but my FH won't hear of it. He doesn't want it played at our Protestant ceremony.

My question is:
What songs or hymns are protestant brides including in their ceremonies (other than processional / recessional music) and when are they being played or sung?

Adioguardi, is there a website where I can find the lyrics to some of those songs? I don't know them, but since my FH needs to 'approve' the songs, I'd like to show him the lyrics.

Any other thoughts?
