Hey ladies I have to pass some information along to you.....................

If you know someone overseas or if you want to send something to any soldier/marine, you must send all holiday packages or cards out by November 15th so that they get them by the holidays.

You can google it to get names if you'd like.

Please whether or not you agree with the war is not the issue please support our men, my FH is there, I am sending out about 10 packages to him and men in his unit. They need a little holiday cheer. A card from someone back home to say Happy Holidays means more to them than you may realize.

Thanks for this info!! As far as care packages, do you mean like the ones we send thru booksforsoldiers?

Also, how much does it cost to send a card? I know there is extra postage, but do u know how much?

thanks for the info. FI's brother and BIL are both in iraq. we sent a HUGE package a few weeks ago w/ over 30 paperback books, sports magazines, wet-ones, and video tapes. my MIL bought an air tight shrink wrap machine and we are going to send baked goods over for the holidays.

whether you know someone or not, please send some holdiay cheer to these brave men and women.



ETA: my MIL sent the package, but i think she said it was only around $15. she said that that the USPS offers a discount rate.

no extra postage, very common misconception, I only put one stamp on each letter/card I send him!!!

Care packages can mean a box of candy, the books for soldiers is great, anything, non perishable can be sent, I send one box about every other week filled with goodies to my Marine to share with his unit. hygeneine products are so important!! I sent toliet paper, wet ones, deodorant, soap, eye drops (dry heat), gum, tooth paste, tooth brushes, you name it I send it!

They appreciate it all. They cost about 10 to send out, I spend a ton to fill them but you don't have to. You can send a box with the left over halloween candy that goes on sale tomarrow.

What if you don't have a name to google? Is there an address to just send to a certain group? and someone will distribute to those in need when it gets over?

i have done this with a class before, I am a teach to be and have an awesome teacher friend who let me , You can have your whole class write a letter and send our an envelope of letters to them, it cost no more than a large letter to anywhere in the U.S. or have them each bring in one item from home and make a care package. The kids in West Islip who did this loved it! TY Mrs. Olsen!!!
