We have decided we really don't need to register for much so we didn't. People keep telling me that I HAVE to Register and that I HAVE to have a shower, but I could care less. There is nothing I really need or want, I don't want to upgrade to new stuff, that is frivolous to me..
I have been told that I will have a shower...that I have to. I know if I dont register, I will get whatever crap people want to buy for me. Just not into it at all! I am not about asking people for gifts...
Is there another way? Please Help.
TIA

Re: Please Read and Give Opinions
You could ask guests to make a donation to your favorite charity in lieu of gifts. You could also put a note on the card that says 'your presence is our present.'
ETA: some will bring gifts/money anyway, but these things might help. good luck!

you can register at bed bath and beyond... when you return stuff you get cash back... also what about registering for non traditional things like your honeymoon, and what not...
this is one of the few times in your life that people are going to want to shower so much attention on you and your FI... they like giving gifts... registering isnt asking for presents, it is just making other peoples lives easier when they go to get you something... areyou sure there is nothing you would like to have???

Nothing. We have a small place and enough stuff in it. Only a few things could stand upgrading and I don't feel the need to register for all this stuff and have people spend money on things that aren't a necessity to me. I know it sounds weird. Most B2B are thrilled about this and love getting new stuff, its just that I feel like if I have it, why should I throw away perfectly good things that I spent the money to buy in the first place.
I feel bad registering and wasting my time to do it....the wasting the time of friends and family to go buy the stuff. AND then having to go to BB&B and returning all this stuff. Is that the right thing to do?
I am so baffled by this whole process.

Re: Please Read and Give Opinions
The charity idea is a great one. If you don't have a favorite of your own, you could ask your guests to make a donation to the charity of their choosing in your name.

Why dont you register for your honeymoon? You can go to a travel agency and set up an account. Whatever people would spend on gifts you dont want or dont have room for they can put twords your honeymoon!!!

was just going to say that
what about home depot?
or at bb&b maybe china and crystal - the older folks like to buy the 'big' gifts - it would mean alot for them to have something special for them to give you that will last for a long time
also crate and barrel lets you put furniture on there as well- its a good idea if people want to give you joint gifts.
i agree on registering for things you already have- it is frivilous
good luckl

Re: Please Read and Give Opinions
If you are thinking about not having the room for new or more stuff- just think-you may one day- one day you may want to have holidays and have nice china- you may not now, but in the future do you think there are things you would want?

You should register for some excursions for your HM or gift certificates to restaurants.
