I've been on LI weddings since July of 04 and I've noticed a definite change in recent months.
Last summer the 04 and 05 ladies would post ONE post about a topic. The posts were very useful because instead of opinions/research etc. on a certain topic being spread out over several posts the collective experience and A LOT of info was on one post.
Lately, I've been noticing identical posts for the exact same vendor, topic, etc. on THE SAME DAY. That makes us look lazy. We are not taking the time to search and or asking others to bump posts for us. One long post is better than 16 identical ones.
When researching a vendor, topic, etc. please try to do a search first... at least in the past week.
For example, today, alone, I saw at least two new posts about the exact same photographer. I booked that photographer but myself, and other brides, can't answer a new post asking the same question multiple times during the same day. Meanwhile, there is a 13 page thread on that photographer that dates back over a year. That thread has a lot of info on it. I bumped it. It took me no more than 5 minutes to search for it.
Can we all promise to search a bit first?
Sorry so long just trying to keep the board better organized and helpful to us all.

Since I booked my photographer, I don't read the photographer posts.
Personally - I dont usually have the patience to sit here and sift through old posts to find what I'm looking for. I just post it - the girls are so quick and informative with their replies. For me, that s what makes LIW effective.
i agree with you. the search function isnt so great. you cant search topics only. the search is done thruout the whole post. so when i do a search on photographers i get tens of thousands of responses. all of which i do not want to weed thru.
i dont know if this post is perstaining to me, b/c i did make a photographer post and there was a similar post at the same time, but i am looking for a photographer for a small wedding and what prices would be for a SMALL wedding. i did a search on that and the results were inconclusive. also when you sometimes do searchs you get results from a few years back, and prices are changing constantly. all i asked was a simple question, sorry if it was that much of a problem.
Don't take it personal. That search function is a PITA. I will continue to ask questions the way I have been, and if people respond, great, if they dont that's fine as well. There are still people who will respond even if the question has been asked a million times. We are here to help each other, right?

This was not posted today nor was it posted for any one person in particular. I was looking at my notebook and found it, saw a post by Christian and decided to bump because it's a funny (and true) post and I miss her. Life goes on.

sorry, Sasha.....I should have said 'bumped today'. Before I had replied, I did see that this was originally posted a while back.
I was going to say should I bump one of the old posts saying to do a search, and then I noticed this thread is more than 6 months old! If I searched right now I know I'd find even more threads asking B2Bs to search before posting, because that's just the way it goes!
But it is good practice because there is a ton of good advice to be found buried among the old posts.

I'm sure I have been guilty of this -
so - what is the best way to serach for a topic? I'm slowly learning as I go along - I mean, I just learned about the notebook feature which will save me a lot of time now!!!
So - if anyone has a good search traick up their sleeve - please share!!!

I'm feeling extra cranky today...so no apologies! I'm sorry for my grouchiness...I'm usually polite!
But yes, searching works...not all the time...but it does. If you want to search for multiple words like wedding planner...you can do 'wedding and planner' (minus quotes) and it'll look it up.
Play around with it and see...you can even search for a specific date or all your posts (or someone else's if you're stalking! )...

This is very true, there are times I want to shout at people 'just do a search!!' I have done so on many occasions!!
The other thing that gets annoying once in a while is the reposting on numerous boards. Sometimes people will have responses and yet repost again elsewhere anyway!! Most of us do check the BHB board, so it's best to just post there first!
