My Dr. told me I have a retroverted uterus. She told me it is nothing to be worried about, but still I am worried. Does anybody on here have one? I searched online and I found it can be associated with endometriosis or PID. What is PID?

Re: Please read - retroverted uterus
Just to get on the bandwagon... I have a retroverted uterus (tipped backwards) and delivered a healthy baby girl in Feb 1995. I got PG the first time we conciously tried to.
Of course -- she was HUGE (9lbs 6oz) so they were more worried about how she was gonna get OUT than how she got in!
Dont worry about it!

Re: Please read - retroverted uterus
Just had a chance to read this. I know you read webmd stuff and everything but if you want more to give you peace of mind, here's search results from iVillage. Seems like it's in 20% of women and it's not problematic.
I love webmd but when it's a particularly female issue, I find iVillage more reassuring.
It sounds like she was just pointing it out. Maybe she hasn't see too many.
That happens to me w/ eye drs.
I went to the same one most of my childhood, an then since my teens I switch all the time. Occasionally I get one who decides to point out that I have big pupils.
No one every told me if that is good or bad, but I did learn on my own that it may make laser eye surgery more difficult & it is probbaly why I always have the worst red-eye in pictures!
An EMT said the same thing to me when I was being checked for a concusion. At this point I was so used to it, I just said 'I know'. He was all confused.
I wasn't too out of it , I knew what he was checking for. I really just wanted to say, ' I know they're big, are they evenly dilated?'

Re: Please read - retroverted uterus
My mom had one.... she had no problem getting pregnant or carrying to term. She did have painful periods but endometreosis was never indicated. She had a hysterectomy two years ago at age 53 for a fibroid condition and is doing well.
Edited to state that mom's fibroid condition was unrelated to her tilted uterus.

The same thing happened to me, I was getting a regular exam, and the doctor just goes on and tells me how I have a retroverted utereus, and keeps on talking, im like excuse me..what does that mean...anyway, I do have endometriosis..which sucks...and sex is painful a lot of times, which sucks even more....but they say that it doesn't really affect you in any other ways, there isn't much to worry about, it supposedly more common than you would think

Julz -- I have the same exact thing... found out a couple of years ago... when my GYN told me I hit him with a million questions right away He also said it shouldn't affect fertility or pregnancy but that it WOULD BE EASIEST for me conceive if we did it, uh, doggystyle or woman-on-top due to the angle tilt of the uterus.

.... ...
Wow, it is amazing to me how 'common' this is .. when you first hear it for yourself, you think you are the only one , and/or that it is a rare thing
I've been going to gynos since I'm 14 years old (horribly irregular cycles), and it took UP UNTIL LAST YEAR to be informed that I had a tilted ('anteverted' .. tilted forward) uterus! I mean, this is something you are BORN WITH supposedly, so why didn't my doctor(s) ever mention it before? I never had any of the 'symptoms' (painful intercourse of the like), so who would know? Yet I still would have liked to be informed!
Though I'm not at all worried about fertility and/or conceiving, even though my gyno did tell me that it 'could' be a 'bit' more difficult given a tilted uterus .. she DID mention the same things that Jimmysbride said ..
