Please recommend a weekend destination wedding location.
Original post by lucamon
So my sister got engaged last month. She is looking to do a weekend destination wedding within 3 hours drive of NYC sometime in Oct/ Nov of this year. It doesn't have to be a catering hall. It could be a bed and breakfast, restuarant, or ski resort. It has to hold up to 80 people with room and board. She is looking at the Poconos and also along the waterfront of CT but that is pricey. The east end of LI is WAY out of her price range for. A room in the north fork is over $300 per night. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

Congrats to your sister!
I would say.... try Newport, RI Newport Info Look around on that site. There are a ton of beautiful places to get married. I wanted to do that but my FILs hated the idea.
If not... PA is good too!
GL!
I live in the Newport area. Feel free FM me with any questions. For weddings the prettiest places are Castle Hill, Oceancliff, & the Viking,
It's absolutely beautiful there! It's right on a lake (there's ice skating!), they have a merry go round and a wild life preserve (injured animals that can't be released back into the wild).
My family lives near there.
Now that I think of it, you can also check out the Hotel Thayer - it's right in West Point (also near Bear Mountain).

I second the Kaatskill Mountian Club at Hunter Mountian. I'm getting married next year at Onteora however we booked our room blocks at the Kaatskill Mountian Club.
The wedding planner, Sarah, is amazing and extreamly helpfull. If you book a wedding there I'm sure you will get discounts on rooms etc. Since it is a ski mountian I know that you can get married at the top of the mountian. Also, as mentioned above, the hotel is brand spanking new.
Another note, if you liked Onteora, is that they do Monday weddings as well at a discounted price. While they have a site fee and list on their website per person costs, those costs per person include tax and gratuity. You only pay tax an gratuity on food so we actually found it to be more resonable then some of the places on LI. It is worth looking at if you liked the locaiton. Trust me, it is way better in person than it looks on the website.
