Please recommend Hawaii restaurants

I'm leaving for my honeymoon on Thursday and want to make reservations at some restaurants on Maui, Kauai, and Oahu. I have read reviews on-line but I would like recommendations from you girls.

Thanks!

I can help with Kauai.. but need to know where you are staying and what type of budget you have for dinners. Just meaning if you are looking for something romantic, on the water, steak and seafood , pacific rim.. that kind of stuff.

We are staying at the Grand Hyatt in Kauai. Anything romantic with a view and any type of food.
Thanks

In Maui there's a restaurant called Mama's Fish House.....it is absolutely amazing seafood. Everything on the menu was caught that day!!! It's got an amazing atmosphere also - very tropical and beautiful by the beach.

Kauai..
There are two restaurants right in the Hyatt that are fabulous - Tidepools for steak and seafood and Donderos for Italian. Both are delicious and have beautiful views of the resort. (Tidepools is right on the koy fish pond)

All three are on the expensive side, but hey, you're in Hawaii!!!!

ETA - In Oahu, the Cheesecake Factory was cool because you could eat outside and watch all of the nightlife action going on in Honolulu

I second this- Mama's Fish house is awesome. My husband dropped his credit card through the slats in the floor boards (everything for the rest of the trip was booked on this card). They got their maintenance crew to tear up the floor boards the next day and we drove back to pick it up. We could have just cancelled it! But their service was wonderful and they insisted.

We also loved David Paul's Lahaina Grill (on Maui) - expensive but the best meal we had in Hawaii- and the food was really amazing everywhere. They asked us if we were celebrating anything special and we told us it was our honeymoon. They brought us a free dessert with a card signed by the staff, and they took our picture and emailed it to us. Great service and great food- I really really recommend it.
David Paul's

We also had a wonderful meal at I'O in Lahaina- right on the beach as the sunset- it was awesome. I'O Maui

It's sister restaurant is Pacific'O which I think is also great.
Pacific'O Maui

I would NOT recommend the Hula Grill- the food wasn't very good and it was packed, but it does have a great location right on the beach (but the seating there is limited).

I'm not sure where you're staying on Oahu. We stayed at the Turtle Bay Resort on the North Shore and we had fantastic dinners at 21 Degress North (one of the highest rated restaurants on the island) and Ola- both within the Turtle Bay Resort. 21 Degrees North is a little more fancy and pricey (but great) and Ola was more casual, literally right on the beach and had awesome seafood- we ate there twice because we liked it so much. We actually had some great relaxed, and less pricey lunches at Lei Lei's and the Hang Ten bar and grill, also at Turtle Bay. We didn't spend any time near Waikiki, so I can't give you any recommendations there, sorry.

If you like seafood you will be in heaven in Hawaii. It is sooooooooooo good everywhere, especially the Ahi. Have the best time. I'm so jealous- I would love to go back!

I stayed at the Grand Hyatt about 12 years ago with my family. It is an awesome hotel- you will love it. I remember the food there being excellent as well.

Another nice thing my husband and I did a few times when we didn't want to go out to dinner- we ordered room service and had it set up on our lanai. It was really nice to have a quiet dinner overlooking the ocean.

Oh.. My favorite place.. I spend about 4 weekends a year there.

Here are a few teaser photos :)

son on the slide

Anyways..hope that makes you a bit more excited!! LOL

Tidepools at the Hyatt is good. The ambiance is better than the food in my opinion. It sits out on a lagoon .... tiki torch type of atmosphere.

I like Keokis food better as well as Roys. They are in the Poipu shopping center about 1 mile away.

Brenekes sits across Poipu beach and has excellent food. We love to eat there and then go for a walk in the park .. if the moon is out.

All these I recommend reservations. Brenekes is also great for lunch. WE go to the beach for a while then go to Brenekes.. in bathing suts and coverup and have a stawberry daquiri.. or mai tai.. YUM.

The Hyatt has Stevenson library which is a great place to top off your night. They have a jazz band on the weekend, pool tables, back gammon, chess.. and food if you like. Its kinda cigar bar type place.
we always spend some time there.
The sunday brunch is excellent too.
Last time we ate there Pierce Bronson was our neighbor :) . He lives there most the year now. Kauai that is.

As far as Oahu. I would go to Dukes for casual fun. for a SPECTACULAR view and meal I would HIGHLY recommend the Hanohano room atop of the Outrigger waikiki. It has a view of Diamond head on one side and the city on the other from like 50 storys high. Amazing!!!. there is a bar downstairs with a band that is fun to stay up and dance too. We stayed there until 3am.. ugh.. but then we did this in the morning..

Oh.. the other restaurant I recommend is Micheles. Sits out on the water as well. Very very good food and wonderful romantic environment.

Have fun!

Do not go to Mama's fish house is Maui. its a tourist trap and its overpriced for the quality.

Our favorite restaurant in Maui was Mama's Fish House, I don't think it was overpriced for the quality at all! If you plan on doing the Road to Hana, make a reservation to go there that day, at the end, since it's far from where most of the hotels are.

In Kauai, I loved the Plantation in Poipu, it's near the Marriott timeshare place. I also liked the restaurants in the Hyatt a lot. We also went to Pizetta a couple of times, it has great pizza and standard Italian food.

In Oahu, Dukes was my favorite by far! They have one in Kauai as well but, it's a bit smaller. Their Hula Pie is great!

Have fun!
