Please say a prayer..

Original post by DeniseMang

I went to the dermatologist last night to get a full body look over for moles, etc.

Well, I have had this discoloration on my shoulder for years. I always thought it was just pigmentation. So the Dr. said she wanted to biopsy it to rule out cancer or schleoderma.

Well, I went on the internet today and looked up schleoderma and now I am horrified. Its a deadly disease with no cure..................

Please say I prayer its not that, I am so scared now!

I will pray for you, but I am sure it is nothing. The doctor is being sensible to check for everything, but it is probably nothing and you will be fine!

I want to just say something about scelederma. The daughter of my mom's close friends has scelederma. She has lived with it for nearly 10 years. She has two small children and is not debilitated in any significant way. I am sure you will be fine! But even if the worse happens, you will be OK!

ETA: I just read the thread. I am glad you are OK! Also Michelle, thank you for sharing your sister's story. It is a scary disease and not much is known about it, at least to the general public. Your sister is an example of strength and inspiration!

Denise -

I've been CRAZY busy lately, and I only JUST saw this thread. I hope you're okay, (I mean, I know you ARE okay, but I hope you're okay, do you know what I mean?), and I'm only upstairs if you need anything.

I had the same thing happen. I went to the dermatologist to have one mole checked out and decided, since I was there, to get a full body look-over. He found 2 'suspicious' moles. He removed them and they were biopsied and they were harmless. Don't get worked up...the doctor just does this as a precaution. Some are 'pre-cancerous' and it's just nice to know that they are removed and you don't have to 'watch' them anymore. I'm sure everything will be fine. Has it chnaged shape or color recently? One of the one that I had removed actually kept getting bigger and it still turned out to be nothing. Better safe then sorry. Take a deep breath, I'm sure everything will be okay. Just know that anytime you have anything suspicious, any doctor worth his/her salt will remove and biopsy the mole. Lots of . You will be in my prayers!

My little cousin who is now 13 has this, and has had it since she was like 7, and she is fine. Never been sick from it, never had a problem. Dont stress yourself out!
