MY FH proposed on perfect proposal! IT was the episode with the cooking show and the fire department! What a surprise that was! A truely memorable experience and we have the video to show our kids!
Holy cr@p! I saw that one!!! It was the one where you were helping your brother out on a 'cooking show', right?? You stayed so cool through the whole thing!!! That is so great, and you're right...it's such a great thing to show the kids/grandkids!!

Re: Please share your 'Creative' proposals.
we were going to an estate sale in oyster bay to a 27 room mansion! We bought some things, one of them being champagne glasses, you know the 1940's kind that had the words bride and groom etched on them. It was a little bit embarrassing when we went to pay because the woman selling them asked when our wedding date was. I told her we didn't have one yet because we had to become engaged first! Afterwards, we went to ramsom beach in bayville (Fh grew up around there). after 5 minutes of casual conversation he got down on one knee and proposed! He also had a bottle of champagne hiding in the car and ironically, we used the glasses we just bought to celebrate with!! Looking back on that day, I truely feel that we were supposed to become engaged on that day (10/24/04). Everything just fell right into place - i will never forget it!

Re: Please share your 'Creative' proposals.
One day I got a letter from him written on parchment that said over the next few weeks i would be coming across words that would be randomly left for me and that those words put together would form a message. So i would find these words (they were all written on red silk squares in glitter) left for me everywhere. In my car, in the mail, under my pillow, at work etc..
We had a trip to New Orleans that had been planned for several month with 14 other people and he told me to bring all the words along with me. Now, i really had no idea what was going on because he's very creative and I thought he was just being cute.
All along i'm telling him that i want to have a day in New Orleans where its just the 2 of us and not the whole gang of our friends around. Friday morning we get up, have room service breakfast, go out and get a few drinks to carry around and wander around the French Quarter and the river. We decide to sit in the park in Jackson Square and we're enjoying the sunshine and being away on vacation. Next think i know, i look down and there's an envelope. It was the last word of the puzzle and said 'wife'. When you put all the words together it said 'I love you so much and want you to be my wife'.
I screamed and said 'are you F'in kidding me??' (romantic huh?) and jumped on him smothering him with kisses. And of course i said yes
He's a sweetie!

New Years Eve...we were meeting some friends b/c a friends band was playing at one of the bars (real sweet-ina bar!!!). EVERYONE knew but me. I didnt feel so hot at work-my boss sent me home saying I needed to get better so that we could have fun that night-she repeated this like 20X!!!!!
We had his cousins engaggement party that night-so after all that we went to go meet up with our friends. Many times that night I didnt know what he was doing-he would say he was going to do this...and he never does that, and he was going here...and he hates that place. He had called my dad and my dad hadnt called back yet and he wanted to speak to him before he asked me.
Anyway-the countdown started and we were watching the TVs and he pulled on my arm...I turned around-annoyed and saif 'WHAT?!' and he was down on one knee.
EVERYONE-including the people in the place knew-total strangers-I started crying and when I turned around-ALL the people int he place were staring at us!
It was very sweet and a total SHOCK. FH doesnt do public-all out there kind of things. He always said he would do it just us...LIAR!!!

Wow! You guys have such great stories. My FH decides to take me away for my bday and we're sitting in the car and he tells me not to look around in the car because he picked up some brochures for places he'd like to take me if a special occasion came up (he had always said he would take me away to propose). SO, I had built up my bday weekend and convinced myself it was then that when he said that, I just lost it but wouldn't let him know. We stopped at a rest area and i went in and balled my eyes out saying he would never be ready to get married, he never watned to, etc. etc. Then out of nowhere, I just all of a sudden felt like, well, he planned this great weekend, I'll just deal with the whole 'relationship'thing on monday. Fast forward, we arrive at the resort, FH sits down to catch some scores on ESPN then says he needs to fill out my bday card (nice, huh?) So, we're walking around the grounds of the estate and come up to this fishing pond where people are all fishing. No jokethe minute we walk up there, everyone puts their poles away and leaves. At this point, I'm starting to feel like something is going on because he's not talking much and keeps looking left and right. So finally I ask for my bday card which is in my hand. He tells me to read it on a bench next to us. I open the card (pretending to read it) and out falls a brochure for dance lessons (he always said he wanted to take dance lessons before the wedding and I LOVE to dance). He's on his knee, crying, I'm shaking. It was wonderful!!!!! (P.S. and he totally knew I had been crying the big meanie!)
Christmas Eveafter church, under the tree. we exchanged presents. His family made up some story about going to his grandparents house and they'll just meet us at the restaurant. I opened my present and it was a coach bag (score!) he told me to look inside and there was a box, I opened the box and there was tissue paper, I opened the tissue paper and there was another box I opened the other box and there it was!
we called my parents and my sister yelled 'he didn't ask daddy for permission!!!' grrr. then we met his family for dinner.
great thing is, I got a plum colored coach bag to wear all winter too. all he got were some games from toys r us and a sweater (poor boy)

DH took me camping, which is kind of our thing to do, and proposed in front of the campfire. I had thought he was going to do it, but he waited until late at night, so by that point I had given up. Even though it wasn't 100% a surprise, it was still perfect.

My DH kind of screwed up what was supposed to be the most incredible proposal I was on winter break for law school and kept bugging and bugging him that we should do something, and was getting annoyed that we had no plans. To appease me, one day he took me horsebackriding, which was really 'mule' riding... we came home and he started making dinner and downed half a bottle of wine and then sat me down in front of the fireplace and proposed... at the same time he pulled out two tickets to the Swiss Alps for 10 days of skiing at Club Med, to depart the next day...
APPARENTLY what he wanted to do was pack my bags for me without my knowing, get me in the car and tell me we were heading to my parents house in NY (we live in Philly) and instead drive to the airport and propose to me there... but then he realized I would have freaked if (a) HE packed my bags, and (b) we didn't arrange for someone to sit for my cat in advance, sooooooooo, thanks to my little kitty cat, the proposal was preceded by mule riding and ended at our apartment in front of the fireplace... I loved it nonetheless and had an INCREDIBLE time in Switzerland!

Re: Please share your 'Creative' proposals.
DH and I went to Puerto Plata, DR on vacation. I suspected a proposal but I thought if he were smuggling an e-ring he's be more protective of his bags but was his usual laid back self. Night #1 nothing, night #2 NOTHING, so day #3 I decided it wasn't happening and that I should just enjoy the remaining 3 days. Well on night #3 we went for a sunset stroll on the beach before dinner, as we were heading back in DH pointed out something in the sand. I walked over to find a bottle sticking out of the sand. Of course I had to be difficult and wouldn't touch it (germophobe) so he took it out of the sand and it appeared to have a piece of paper in it so against my better judgement I pulled the cork out and the piece of paper. I uncrinkled the paper and turned to DH who was down on one knee, the message in the bottle read 'Will you marry me?' I was beyond surpsied and cried and didn't answer until he asked again.

Re: Please share your 'Creative' proposals.
my FH and I were in Montauk for the weekend with my parents- he and I decided to go horseback riding on the beach. Well I just thought it was to waste time. On the trail we had a private beach all to ourselves. The trail guide told us to stretch out our legs since we were already on the horses for about 45 minutes. I was like great I dont want to have to get back on the horse. The guide took our horses to 'be fed away from us'. I was staring at the beautiful beach and water and he proceeded to tell me he had to talk to me about something. I didnt know what to think so I was like ok and when I looked at him he was down on my knee. I cried like a baby- I barely remember what he said- Of course I said yes. Well when we got back to the stable the whole place knew and then when we got back to the room my parents had balloons everywhere. I cant believe that they knew. It was so nice of hom to have my parents there to celebrate with us. Thats why I love him- he thinks of family.

Ok... It was my Birthday May 24th, and my Fh said we would celebrate it on the weekend, b/c it was the middle of the week and we both work kinda late...
So, On Friday May 27th, he picked me up from my job and we went to Carmines, (one of our favorite restaurants) and then he gave me the card with tkts for the play 'Movin Out', I was so excited, b/c I love Billy Joel... (what Long Islander doesn't??? ANYWAY) Well... I thought that was it... We then went to Toys R Us in Times Square and road on the Ferris Wheel... Its so funny, b/c he picked the Barbie one and it had Diamond Ring right behind my head in the picture and I still didn't figure it out... We then hopped into a cab, and he said central Park to the driver... I was so excited... I figured Horse and carriage ride... and it was!!! HE POPPED THE QUESTION ON THE HORSE AND CARRIAGE RIDE!!! I was so excited!!! My mommy and my brother knew... I was so out of it!!! I think it was so cute, My father died when I was little, so he asked my mothers approval... Then we were off to see the play... IT WAS AMAZING! I LOVED IT EVERY SECOND! and I LOVE MY RING! my FH says...Princess cut... Just like you... a Princess!

Fh was turning 30 so his parents asked me to help plan a surprise 30th party for him. I found the place to have the party at (Merlot) I sent out all the invitations, I helped pick out the meu with his parents and I also bout scratch off 'win for life' lotto tix's for a favor. I told FH it was my cousins surprise 21st party to get him there. We get there and all of his friends and family were there including my family as well (our families are close). He acts all surprised and I was so happy thast he really was surprised casue I am the worst at keeping secrets. Half way through the party he gets on the dj's microphone and starts thanking his parents for this wonderful party thanks his sister and all the guests and then thanked me. While he was thanking me, he told me that he had a secret for me. He said that he knew about this party all along. Me still not knowing thinks that I somehow slipped and was shushing him, casue I didnt want to be blamed for him knowing.
WELL,,he then says that him and his parents have been working together all along to surprise me!! He toldme that he loved me,,and that he will love me the rest of his life if I love him for the rest of my life..and then got down on his knee and proposed!!!!
Not one person knew about this besides his parents and mine...Everyoe went wild!! Sooooooo I basically planned my own surprise proposal party!!!!!
ETA;;excuse my spelling,,didnt do spell check!
Rosaria, OMG that is the CUTEST MOST SWEETEST proposal I have EVER heard!!! I am sitting here with tears in my eyes like a baby!

Re: Please share your 'Creative' proposals.
Fh put a lot of planning into the proposal. We were going on vacation. He planned the whole trip to Colorado. The first full day we were in Co we went skiing and then had a two hour guided sunset snowmobile tour. He proposed on top of the mountain with the sunset it was beautiful. I then found out before we left for the trip he took my parents out to dinner to asked for there permission. I was so touched. When we got back to the condo from the snowmobile tour. He had a bottle of champagne outside chilling with two glasses by the hottub, very romantic. We went to dinner after that, when we returned we walked into a candlelight condo that he arranged with the office. It was amazing. I will never forget.
PS you all have great stories. I loved reading them
