Please support my decision to blow the whole wad....

Please support my decision to blow the whole wad....

OK.... I'm doing it.... I'm spending 2500 on a wedding gown. I love this dress - it's gorgeous. I have been obsessing about this gown for over a week.
The ONLY reason I didn't order it on the spot is because of the price. I never thought I'd ever spend that much on a gown (and actually scoffed at women that would - to them I apologize, I now understand).
My rationale is that I DID give up my first choice places to have our reception (DiSeversky and Crescent Beach Club) for one that gave us a lower price(with many wonderful options thrown in).
Besides wanting to add posts to my history so that I too can change my avatar heading, I just need someone to put their arms around me and tell me..... 'you are not a brat for buying a designer dress. You are still a good person even though you are spending so much money on a dress that you will wear for only one day.'
Thanks ladies..... I love this site and hope to meet many of you soon!

its your wedding day and if you love the dress then you have to go with it, it's a feeling you get. I haven't found 'THE DRESS' yet but i know how you feel because when i walked into the place where I am having my reception I didn't care I just knew I had to have it there. CONGRATS

Oh don't worry about it - it's definitely worth it if you LOVE that dress!!! I spent too much on mine also, but if you consider what you're spending for photography, music, and food for your guests...the cost of the dress - the item that will be in ALL the photos, that will make you feel absolutely wonderful on this huge day...is totally worth it! enjoy:)

Is it the Romona?
You deserve it! You have to pick the priorities for you and if it is the dress then go for it! It is something different for every bride.

You are not a brat for wanting that dress. My original budget was $800-1000. I wound up ordering a dress for $3000. I used to hate on women that bought expensive dresses too. But in all reality i want to look like Cindrella on my wedding day and if i have to spend $3000 to do so then so be it. You go girl and go get that dress.

You are definitely NOT a brat or a bad person for buying the dress of your dreams. Your wedding day is the day for you to splurge and do things you normally wouldn't do, so love the dress you are wearing!

Besides....you could always preserve it, in the hopes that your daughter might wear it someday....

You sound like me. If you saved money in one area (reception) then yes, it's easier to justify spending that money on your dress. We all have areas that we are spending more money on than others.

I say you sound like me because I have literally been watching EVERY penny. People at work must hate me because I stopped buying candy for their kids fundraisers, etc. Well, I managed to scrimp and save and bought myself a gorgeous pair of cultured pearl and diamond earrings.

You don't have to justify your dress choice to anyone except yourself, particularly if you are the one paying for it.

Go for it!! The bride should feel like a princess on her wedding day! The bride's dress makes the difference.

I couldn't agree more. When I first got engaged, I swore I wouldn't spend more than $1500 on a dress. That pretty much went out the window. My BM made a good point. She said that the bride is just as much a centerpiece of the wedding as all the other details, so her dress should match the tone/feel of everything else. I say go for it!

Get the dress!! If you love it - you will regret getting another dress. I've spent WAY too much on my dress - but i am loving every inch of it!!

I spent the same amount on mine, I went through the same guilt/worry feelings you're having, and I was a nervous wreck handling the dress pre-wedding--terrified the cleaner would ruin it, etc. And the reason I was so nervous was because if something happened to my $2500 dress, I thought I would die because I wasted so much money on it.

And then at my wedding, nobody could believe how stunning the dress was. People were literally coming up to me just to touch it and look at it. And I finally relaxed and enjoyed it. It was gorgeous, it made me feel gorgeous, and looking back it was worth every cent. You're the bride--you're the belle of the ball! Get the dress that you love because it will make you feel beautiful and it will make you look beautiful!

I don't care if you only wear it for one day, you're going to be looking at that dress for the rest of your life (in pictures)! Get the one you want. And then show us pictures of it.
