Please take my quick food poll!

Please take my quick food poll!

Right now, my menu has an awesome and very full cocktail hour, but the dinner menu is just (1) Salad (2) Entree (3) Desert.

I'm trying to decide if I should add a pasta course (we're both italian so lots of our guests will like it).

Anyway, it would take away 45 minutes of dance time to add the course. To compensate, we're considering adding an hour to the wedding. It would go from 6 to 12 instead of 6-11 if we extend it.

What would you do?

Personally, I wouldn't do it. Everyone is usually stuffed from the CH and to add pasta I feel would be too much. JMO

Personally, we cut the pasta out of our menu, so we have like yours is set up now. Between all the food at the cocktail hour (which in our case has 2 pasta stations), the salad, entree and dessert, no one will ever miss the extra course.

I voted to add the pasta course (we're both Italian too so I know how important this is) but don't extend the wedding. I just don't think it's neccessary. But, if you really want to, and the costs isn't an isue, go for it. I would love add another hour to mine.

Will there be a long gap between the salad and main course?

If yes, then add the course, otherwise I wouldn't bother.

I would either go 6-12 (if its in yoiur budget)

or

DONT WORRY ABOUT IT!! Everybody will eat at cocktail hr and nobody will starve b/c they dont get a pasta dish. I dont think anyone would notice at all.

I am marrying into an Italian family, and I have learned that pasta is very important. I think the guests will really miss not having a pasta course. With all the stations at the CH people may not get pasta there, if they dont see it (or if you don't have a pasta station). So I would add pasta and an extra hour. Our reception is 5 hours (7pm-12) and I'm glad I have the extra hour.

Well do what you want. Dancing time is important to me, so if you do decide to add the pasta then you should extend and hour, but it sounds to me like another course and another hour wil be costly, if you can afford it, then I would go for it

We are having a pasta station at CH, so I told FH no pasta course at dinner.

I think the pasta might be too much. try adding maybe fruit or something.

I went to a wedding a few weeks ago that did the pasta but did not have the DJ stop. So those who wanted to dance keeped going and those who wanted pasta sat down and enjoyed. It worked out great.

I WOULD CUT THE PASTA OUT AND ADD IT IN THE COCKTAIL HOUR, DON'T PAY EXTRA HOUR FOR PATSA

I wouldn't add pasta. But you could always enhance the dessert without adding an extra course if you think the food is too light: ex- having chocolate covered strawberries served with the cake. That wouldn't take away from the dancing either.

A pasta course doesn't take 45 minutes! Who told you that? Is that the caterers way of getting you to book an hour of OT?

This is what I would do too - I'd rather have an extra dessert served at the same time as the cake. It won't take anyone off the dance floor.

I agree with this...your guests will be stuffed from the CH, they're going to be tipsy and are going to want to PARTY!

ETA: And I also think that adding extra dessert is a waste of $$...there will be cake and regular desert...people are going to be stuffed...at this point they just want to party! Im speaking from my own experience as a wedding goer...

add the pasta, but don't extend the wedding.

Believe me when I tell you, if your guests want to dance, the pasta course will NOT stop them
