So a friend of mine, who is not engaged, has two friends (other than me) who got engaged recently. So she's been talking to me about it and sending me pics of both the rings and saying how gorgeous they are and soooo big and whatever. So now I am feeling like my ring doesn't meet her standards. She was like, 'I am telling my boyfriend that he better get me a ring like hers!' Both these rings are like 3 carats +. My ring is certainly NOT small by any means, but its not 3 carats, its 2.
Am I acting stupid?? I LOVE my ring and wouldn't trade it in for anything in the world. Maybe I am just feeling jealous cause all the attention isnt on me anymore...I don't know.

aawww. I think that even though u love your ring, it hurts your feelings when a friend makes oi sound as if its so small compared to everyone elses. Try not to let her comments get to you and to make you feel better.

It has nothing to do with the size of the ring; it's the relationship that counts. Sometimes people lose focus of the 'big picture' and they are too materialistic and forget the true meaning of a marriage. Don't worry how big their ring is because they might not even have a good relationship(just going through the motions)

honestly, i think the ones that are all into the rings and comparing how big theres is with other peoples is the ones who will be in that 50% to get divorced .... if you care about that more than the big pic (as someone already stated), then you're a moron PERIOD! They will also prob be the ones to focus on the whole wedding and forgot theres actually marriage after... stupid stupid stupid... can you tell i hate people like that???

i tolf fh for yrs.... my ring could come out of a 25 cent machines (now of course they are like 50 cents) and id be thrilled.... i said i jus wanted a change in the rel b/c after 6 yrs of saying 'bf' and knowing theres much more there... you wanna take it to another level....
im content with jus being engaged and having a ring, any ring, on my finger ... maybe its why i havent done any wedding planning

Like everyone already said... the size really is not important as the realtionship and if you have a friend who is focusing on the size of her other friends rings then i would take her opinion with a grain of salt.

Okay, I feel better. I don't think it was that I was rethinking MY ring, it was that my friend was making me feel like she didn't think mine was worthy of her. I don't know, it just hurt my feelings. I absolutely LOVE my ring and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Like Mazz said before, I too would have taken a ring from a 50 cent machine and been THRILLED! I am just happy that I am marrying someone who I love more than life and my best friend too.

As long as you love your FM and our happy, the ring size shouldn't matter and you shouldn't let anyone make you feel insecure. Your ring is beautiful. Girls can be very jealous. Hope you are feeling better after all these replies.

As long as YOU love your ring, who the heck cares? The ring is a symbol of your FHs love for you, not a status symbol that someone else should be throwing in your face because theirs is bigger. Your ring is gorgeous and meaningful and you shouldn't let anyone make you feel bad about it! I get a lot of BS for not even wanting a ring, but in the end thats not what its all about. Its about you two and your love for each other.

OMG, I remember when you told us that story about your friend calling your ring 'cute'! That is sooo weird of her. I bet she was jealous. I know that I shouldn't get worked up over this friend, especially since she isn't even engaged, so what does she know??? I think she is just very materialistic and I lost sight of it all for a second. I couldn't be happier with everything that I have, and I am very grateful.
