I get home from vacation last week to a huge pile of mail....

one of the evvelopes was my FBIL wedding invite...they are getting married at Leonard's on 9/29

well it is addressed to
Mr. Steven L( last name) & Kim

thats it no ms. no last name of mine not even my full name!!

i think she did it on spite b/c we really dont see eye to eye

i am overreacting?

i mean seriously arent wedding invites supposed to be formal! she knows my last name!

Honestly, I think you are getting a lil bent out of shape about it... She might not know the proper etiquette when it comes to addressing invitations... Now if she put guest... that would be a different story!

I feel your pain! Stupid biitch. Wedding invites should be checked and double-checked to make sure you get the right invitation. It probably wasn't spite though, just laziness...

I guess this really isn't a big deal but I'd be pissed too. We received an invitation where they spelled my last name wrong and I was pissed so I know how you feel. I feel ridiculous for being pissed but I can't help it

I think you're looking too much into it. I've been living with my FH for over four years, and we still get all sorts of things written on invites that we get...I've gotten, 'Miss Kristine (last name) and Fiance' I've gotten ,'and guest' both him, and I...I've gotten 'Miss Kristine (last name) and Rich'...some people don't know his last name, some don't know how to spell it, and some people, actually think that 'and guest' is proper. I had a girl I worked with tell me, 'that's the formal way to do it...'
I said, 'actually, no, it's not, you're supposed to try to find out the 'guest' name, and use it...and if you don't know by the time of the invite, you should for sure put it on the escort card...' she just didn't know...some people haven't been reading wedding etiquette books, and magazines for the past 15 years!!

I'd be bent...my FBIL and FSIL addressed their invitations to FH and I 'The Future Mr and Mrs Daniel Buckley' I thought that was awesome....slightly less formal but whatever...

I wouldn't take offense b/c maybe she is just completely clueless as to etiquette.

My own sister sent me an invite to her wedding with FH listed as 'and guest'. We were not engaged at the time, but lived together and she definitely knew his whole name. She just didnt bother to check etiquette.

Some people are either nieve or don't care...lol FH was pissed. I wasnt though b/c I knew that was just her cluelessness. I did fill her in on the correct etiquette though.
