Please tell me its going to be OK!!!

Ok, we got approved to start our construction project, and im scared. very scared about how its going to be living with disaster.

Its a big project that took about 8 months to get approved and get started.
We start thursday, and we will be living in the basement, i wont have a kitchen for a long long time, not that i cook, but i will have a refrig, hot plate, toaster oven, micro and foreman grill in the basement. I will also have my computer as well.

So FMIL tells me how horrible it will be, and it gets me in such a bad mood. Here are some pictures of what we are doing exactly. I am hoping to be all done by the wedding, including furniture, and decorating.

you gotta think long tern in a situation like this ...not what is it gonna be like tomorrow .....

sorry to say that it prob wont be easy but at the end you are going to have a beautiful home to share with ur FH !

It sounds like you have all of the little necessities you might need, and you said you don't cook to much anyway, so don't worry, it will be fine. It will be so worth it in the end, even if its not the ideal situation right now.

and judging from the pic, when it's done it is going to be AMAZING and you'll be so glad you did it!! if you can live in the basement and deal with it for a year or so, i think it's totally worth it. it's going to be beautiful!

Werent you just saying in your other thread how you'll be fine with and dont know why FMIL is saying things, so why let it get to you now.

Hmmmm it took over a year to do my apartment, but i didnt live there while we were getting it fixed so dont know...I did have to go there once in a while for different things and be prepared, its noisy, dusty, and just a big mess...but you said you're staying in the basement right?

my FSIL and her hubby did the same thing to their house - it was a project and a half but worth it...

they also lived with her parents, not in the basement... it'll be tough but you'll be fine!

LISTEN!!! I would have KILLED to live in the basement of my house during construction... but FH and I lived upstairs from FILs for 6 months!!!!!!! We thought we'd move in by July & we finally moved in the week of Thanksgiving!! We ate dinner with them EVERY NIGHT!! AAHHHH!!! OH MY GOD!! Trust me- you will be better off than I was! And you have no idea how much you will appreciate your kitchen once it's done!!

I really had no say in this project, part of me was hoping it wouldnt get approved by the town. but it did and we start thursday. I never lived in construction before.
and doing this and planning a wedding i think is making it seem even worse. Im worried, i cant help but worry but I always knew since i first met FH it was his lifelong dream to buy a house and 'knock it to the ground' So i guess i always knew what i was getting into.


Oh the house is in Massapequa.

I kinda have to agree-- as much as I DID NOT LOVE staying with the FILs-- I would not have been all that happy living there in the consturction & we do have a pretty big basement! Either way-- at the time FH used to say to me-- when I was crying that I wanted it to be over-- that if we could make it thorugh that we can make it through anything & he is totally right!
