Please tell me that spending....

Original post by bluekat16

over $1500 on 190 invites is too much!

I love the invites I chose last week through a person that a friend recommended.

I got her quote last night and it's over $1500. This is not only for the invite but includes printed calligraphy for all, assembling and mailing (does not include postage), she'd make sure they get hand cancelled.

I was looking at Davids' bridal and the invite that I like there comes out to about 1/3 of the price bust doesn't include everything else, like the printing and mailing, assembly, etc.

Please help me!

Sounds like a lot but do you have pictures???

Would you be willing to stuff them yourself????

I had 150 invitations printed (on the plainer side).....and they came to about $875 for the invitations, hand calligraphy on inner and out envelopes, and postage for rsvp and for the whole invitation.

We had to cut costs in this area...just wasnt worth it to us!

WHHOOOOAAAA!!! I guess I wasn't budgeting right!!!! I made my limit $275 for all invites and postage (doing outer envelopes and putting them together myself).....Uh Oh!!!

that sounds low, even for DIY. stamps are expensive!

I'm only getting 100 max - and I'm going for a simple design.....I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!

I think its on the high side, but I also think its ok if you want them. I spent a lot more on my invites than i ever expected i would, about 1200, but i didnt care. i loved them and i didnt find anything else i liked better. They were def a splurge and yes, most people throw them out, but its what i wanted. I cut corners in other ways to allow us to get them. I say if you love them, go for them.

I guess it depends on the invitiations but I think that is alot. I spent a total of $300 and wrote them out myself. Hey if you have the $$$$ then go for it but there will be probably other stuff that you 'Must have' that the $$ can be used towards.
JMO Its all dependant on your budget and whats important to you.

Just to give you guys some insight on the invite.

It's 'like' a pocket fold invitation. There is a ribbon that goes around it creating a 'faux' pocketfold. It's prininted on a luster (shimmery) stock and layerd with a matted stock and there will be a raised monogram on the outside on the ribbon. The response card and envelope, reception card and direction card will be printed on a matte stock, and put into the faux pocketfold. The outer envelope will be matte stock with no liner. The pringint on the invite is not raised printing.

Honestly, it's not a bad price, you may be able to get it like $1.00 cheaper/invite if you really tried. Have you gotten a sample to verify the paper is good stock and a nice weight?

it definitely depends on what type you want. I ordered mine online, simple design. I got 100 invites, response cards, outer and inner envelopes, both addressed (with return address) and silver seals. Cost $220.00 plus postage

Re: Please tell me that spending....

There were some invitations I loved that were upto $2300 for 125 and in the end I just decided that it doesnt make sense for me to spend so much money on invites when we could put the money towards something else. So I ended up finding an invite for $750 including everything.

I was able to see the paper stock because she brought them when she cam to show me the work. It's really good paper stock and sturdy.

Re: Please tell me that spending....

So I've decided to look into options at David's Bridal, and PArty city, as well as the other vendor Napavally Girl recommended. Then just do a cost comparison. The #'s never lie

Thank you girls...I knew I could count on you guys for honest opinions!

Re: Please tell me that spending....

I know everyone thinks it is expensive, but I'm spending a similar amount. My price is the same for even fewer invitations - 150. That includes a pocket fold invitation, custom label to seal it shut w/my name and FH's name, response card w/response card envelope that is addressed, and all envelopes done in calligraphy w/return address. I just really loved these particular invites and felt like I could splurge for them. Mind you, I did feel like it was a lot when I was spending it!
