Please tell me this year is going to get better...UPDATE & THANKS

Original post by jannshari

I know I've been doing a whole lot of complaining around here lately, but it just seems like there's something else every week. My father had cancer, and subsequently, surgery to remove it; the day he finally went back to work, he wound up in the hospital with heart problems. Now, FH is seriously ill and it could completely change his quality of life drastically. He spent most of his childhood sick and in and out of hospitals and was finally free of the worst of it for about 9 years now, and suddenly, it's all come back with a vengeance. I feel so helpless because there's not a damn thing I can do to make him feel better and to fix this. I can't even support us if something happens and he can't work.

I know there are people in far worse situations all over the world, but I really wish, if there's a higher being, he/she would cut me some slack. Am I paying for being lucky enough to afford this wedding when people can't afford to eat or put a roof over their head? I know I'm not the nicest, most selfless person out there, but I also know that I am a good person and think that I do my small part to make the world a slightly better place. And it's not like I haven't suffered and struggled throughout my own life, far more than most of the people I know, so I feel like I've more than paid my dues (although are we ever really finished paying our dues in life?).

I guess when it rains it pours. I just wish it would rain over someone else for a little while.

Thanks for putting up with yet another one of my 'woe is me' posts.

Re: Please tell me this year is going to get better...

I just wanted to thank you all again. Things unfortunately took another downward turn today, and there are a lot of things in my life that I really need to re-evaluate and there are definite changes that have to be made. It's times like these that define people and relationships and I know that in the long-run, the past couple of months and the future months will make both FH and I much stronger people. It's just that right now, I'm incredibly exhausted - mentally, physically, emotionally - and I'm finding it difficult to find the strength that I need to do what I have to do, although somehow, I'm still standing. I probably couldn't find the strength without the encouraging words of you beautiful women, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Jann, so sorry that you are going through this right now. There's a song by Yolanda Adams called the 'Battle is Not Yours its the Lord's'. When I feel overwhelmed and like bad things keep happening, I listen to the song and it makes me feel better.

Here are some of the lyrics, I hope you find some comfort in the words...

The Battle is the Lords Lyrics

There is no pain Jesus can't feel
No hurt He can not heal
All things work according to His perfect will
No matter what you're going through
Remember God is using You
For the battle is not yours
It's the Lord's

There's no sadness Jesus can't feel
And there is no sorrow
that He can not heal
For all things work
according to the Master's holy will
No matter what you're going through
Remember that God is only using You
For the battle is not yours
It's the Lord's
