ok so i am going to try to explain this the best way possible... so i was originally going to do votice candles or mini picture frames for the place card seating, but now i have yet changed my mind again and i think this time i am seriously sure about this choice, hehe.. i am going to have those big poster like seating chart done, with either our monogram in the backround or a picture of me and fh. im not sure what they call this, but i am sure you girls know what i am talking about.. its a big poster with the guests names and their table #s where than the guests go and look for their name and the table their sitting at.. what do you girls think of this?? anyone else doing this??

Doesnt matter if the guests think its silly... If you like it ...Go for it! I think its just called a seating chart no? I am doing votives..but I think the seating charts are very elegant.

one of my girlfriends did the poster/frame thing, and told me that it was kind of annoying for her, because the last few days leading up to the wedding people canceled and she had to have it changed... but that is just what I heard... Sorry its a negative thought, but definitely something you should think about!

yeah i guess it is called a seating chart. i actually thought there was another name for it, but i guess now.. so what do you girls think of this idea?? i havent seen many weddings with this yet, just very few. and i havent heard of any girls on here using this for their seating arrangement either so thats why i dont know if its not popular or doesnt work well?? so anyone who has used this or has seen it, let me know what you think of it!!!!!!

I am doing a seating chart I think its just easier JMO. If you go etsy they have vendors who can make them with the monogram and your colors etc...

Both my girls did the seating chart at their weddings and had it in a beautiful frame ( it also had a beautiful background pic on it). Now they have it hanging in their homes as a nice memento from their wedding.

yeah actually if this is what i really decide on doing i have a place/a lady who does this so she will be doing it for me.. its a place in mineola and she does all wedding things and this is one of the things she does and i am using her for my favors, chair cover and sashes for it, and all other extra things i am having in my wedding.. but thanks for the help hun! :)

i forgot to ask.. how much do those things usually go for?? she gave me a quote of about 160 to have that done for me with our monogram and wedding colors.. do you think thats too much for this??

I have seen these before in pictures but not in person. I thought about doing this as well but then like someone else mentioned, I thought about how people cancel last minute and this is just not something I want to deal with the week of the wedding. Once it is printed, that's it.
Also, I think $160 is alot. You can do it yourself in word or excel, print it on regular size paper, take it to kinkos and have them blow it up and then stick it in a frame. That might be a lot cheaper and what I planned to do until I decided I didn't want to be bothered with making changes the week of or 2 weeks before. Placecards seem a little more manageable for that. But JMO. I do love it though!!!

Some places call it a seating scroll because the name seating chart could be confused with the thing that YOU use to figure out where your guests will sit. My fh and I really liked how this looked but we inquired as to how much it was and it just isnt in our budget so we are sticking with place cards and votives however this is a really nice alternative way. There was a good point though made about last minute changes which could present some problems.

yeah there are pro's and con for this idea so i dunno what i am exactly doing yet. i do know if there is changes last minute i will be pretty much screwed if i am using this seating chart cause it will be very hard to have it changed last minute. but i do believe that the place where i would be getting it from the lady told me they only print it out like the last week and put it together that last week just so in case if there is issues and something needs to be changed it can still be changed before it is printed out..
i do like the votive candle idea also though. that and the mini picture frames were my first choice. and i happen to really love the votive candles but what is turning me against that now is because friends have also told me it was too much to give to the guests where theyd be carrying a lot of things home, the votive candle, plus the box of choclate hugs and kisses that will be on their table and their favor?? that is too much for the guests to carry home with them.
but people did make a point about the old folks not understanding how the seating chart works and not being able to find their names, so i dont know what i should do now.. not to mention if i do the votive candles it will basically add up to the same amount of money id spend for this seating chart idea!!!!!!! cause i wont be doing it myself, the votives id have them done by someone as well!!!!!!!

also something else i just forgot to mention.. our photographer with our package he is giving us a huge picture frame rented with a picture we pick from our engagement to have at the RH at the entrance of the reception room i guess.. now where would i put this seating chart if i decide to do this?? will it be too much at the entrance?? 2 big frames?? one of the seating chart with our monogram and than a big frame with our engagement picture?? another thought and thing that is running thru my head.. ahhhhhhh, i wont be able to sleep tonight just thinking but all this, lol!!!
