Has to be convenient for people, NJ,Rockland,Queens, LI guests or people can stay over if they would like but not be too expensive.
-looking for casual elegance

There are a ton of bed and breakfasts's on the north and south shore of eastern Long Island. Try to call them or if that is too far try your favorite restaurant or one that has a water view. Parties at regular restaurants are usually alot cheaper than actual catering halls and are just as nice. Hope I was a help. Good luck!!!

try Stone Caterers, at the Nassau County Bar Association, 15th and West. (In garden city). VERY reasonably priced, different, not a wedding factory, great food!

Re: pleasehelp ! ny/li metro area location and ideas needed within budget

Not sure if this is what you are looking for since it is in Montauk....but I think the weddings are around $69/person and they are a three day deal.

Friday night is a luau for your guests.
Saturday is the wedding.
Sunday there is a brunch.

There are also overnight accomodations for anyone traveling.

I have heard the food is excellent.

Hope this helps.

I think you also get airfare for your honeymoon paid in full. Good luck.

Re: pleasehelp ! ny/li metro area location and ideas needed within budget

I am getting married in NJ, and here are a few places that have the garden:

www.thetides.com (near Paramus) about $70 for afternoon in July, before tax/tips, they also have a smaller room, which is cheaper. Speak with scott there. Really nice and pretty garden and that's what we totally loved. That's where we're getting married. The larger room has like 125 min but we negotiated it to 100, b/c its july 4th weekend and in afternoon. Didn't see the smaller room, but its the one on the pictures at the website, not with pink walls but more with beige.

www.theprimavera.com - same price as above, but only one affair at a time. The garden is not as nice as at the tides - really just some grass and trees with a gazebo.

www.richfieldregency.com - similar price, no garden, but a park just around the corner. Much more formal (black and white interior, marble looking carpets) than either of the two places above, and would be great for a night affair, but not the best during the day. The owner is really nice and the service really seemed top notch to us.

The Manor also has really great gardens - probably the best, but they do up to 4 weddings at one time and we felt the whole place was like a wedding factory to us - really way too big. Their price was a bit higher but also they wouldn't do a ****tail hour before ceremony, which is what we're doing. Overall didn't click with the management there.

www.thebrownstone.com - supposedly this place is famous for their food and relatively inexpensive. We never checked it out because we didn't like the 'type' of food served - i.e. lots of everyday italian/american dishes that didn't give us a 'gourmet' flavor, lots of fried things.

That's all I can think of. There are a few places with a view of the hudson (near weehauker and up), but we never checked it out b/c we didn't care for it.

I still have the wedding facilities and services book, if you need it but you can also buy it at any place that sells magazines in NJ or at the 34th st. path station.

Re: pleasehelp ! ny/li metro area location and ideas needed within budget

I am getting married next July at Gurney's Inn in Montauk. It is a beautiful place right on the beach and they are very flexible with their prices. I am having my ceremony and reception there - it is casual but elegant at the same time! The Inn itself has 2 restaurants, spa, salon, ect. so it is a great place to stay. Email me if you need more info. Good luck!

Also, I went to the Crow's Nest in Montauk to check it out b/c I thought it sounded too good to be true ($69/pp including everything - RD, ceremony, reception, sunday brunch, and honeymoon airfare)and the place, IMO, wasn't that great. The grounds weren't kept up nicely at all.

Re: pleasehelp ! ny/li metro area location and ideas needed within budget

Gurney's is very reasonable. On their website it says that plates start at $90 and up. But when I met w/ the event coordinator he told me they have done weddings for as little as $65 per person! ($65 will get you a chicken dish as the main course) But everything is included in the price - ceremony set up, cocktail hour, 4 hour reception with appetizer, salad, entree, wedding cake, chocolate strawberries, mini pastries, top shelf open bar, ect They are very flexible with their prices. When I first started looking at places for the wedding I didn't event think of Gurney's because I thought it would be ridiculously expensive - but I decided to call and give it a chance. If you want to check out their website it is www.gurney's-inn.com. Good luck!

Re: pleasehelp ! ny/li metro area location and ideas needed within budget

Oh and they only have 1 wedding per day and aren't charging me more because my wedding is on a saturday night in the summer. I am paying the same amount as someone who would be getting married on a Friday in January.
