Plus Ones...
The dreaded debate has come up again. Are you giving each guest a plus one? If not for every guest, for who?
If every guest comes, and if each brings a plus one, we have 250 people. We are hoping to have between 175-185. Our wedding is also July 4th weekend.

We're only doing if you're in a serious relationship.. I don't want any truly random people coming.. I want to look at my pictures and video and know who most everybody are. So we have about half getting plus ones and half not. It gets to be too much otherwise and counts go crazy.

Only guests who are in a serious relationship/engaged/married are getting plus ones. My brother did this and nobody complained.

For the most part, only for serious relationships. There are one or two guests who are single that won't know anyone else really at the wedding very well so I'll give them a guest. We'd have 25+ more people if I gave all FHs single cousins a plus one!! (Yes he has 25 first cousins and they're ALL single except like two!!!!)

I am pretty sure I will be in the minority on this one but I would never invite a friend to my wedding and not extend a plus 1. (Family is a little different especially if they are young because they can mingle and entertain themselves with other family) Single people tend to be sad when they have to attend a wedding and now they are forced to go alone just because they are not in a serious relationship?I was single and attended a ton of weddings and was always given a plus one. If I was told I needed to go alone, I would not only be pissed but depending on who the person was, I would consider not attending especially if I did not know many guests.
I understand that a +1 increases the number of guests at your wedding but just remember to put yourself in their position.
It's a personal opinion and the debate will go on but it's just not something I am comfortable with.

Plus Ones...
I've been going back and forth for the past few days. I do agree that singles should be able to bring a plus one, and going to a wedding alone when you don't know many people isn't fun. However, I have friends who were invited to weddings with a plus one and brought friends as their dates. I also have a few guests who I worry will bring someone random. I've told these guests the invitation is getting addressed to them and if they want to bring someone, they can, but I haven't made a final decision yet.I guess a plus one is a plus one but these situations just make me worry!

We're only giving plus ones to people in serious relationships. If there's anyone who wouldn't know anyone else we'd give them one as well.

If the person I am inviting doesn't know anyone else at the wedding, I'm giving them a plus one. We only have maybe 2 or 3 guests who qualify, but knowing that they will have someone to talk to other than my FH and myself, makes me feel better.

We're 24 and 25, so most of our friends are just starting to date seriously. If a. we've met their SO, b. they live together or c. engaged or married, they're invited. Also, out of towners that won't know anyone else there get a plus one.

This. I don't think there is anyone on our guest list that doesn't know someone else. Maybe one, but she's a social butterfly and wouldn't have any issues talking to new people. We've been friends for over 30 years, but she's the only one from that era getting invited. She also tends to go through men like water, and doesn't always make the best choices when it comes to them. I don't want someone shady that I've never met at my wedding.

This is what i am doing too. I want to make sure anyone who won't know anyone else has someone they can bring so the wedding isn't going to be boring for them.
