PLUS size BMs

PLUS size BMs

I don't know what to do. I have a couple of bigger girls in my bridal party, ranging from heavy to very heavy (in addition to thesmaller, more average sized girls). The sample dresses in the store would never fit these girls. How do i take them shopping for BM dresses at all? without making them feel ******? so that I can find the right size and dress for them?

Maybe take them seperately, so they don't feel bad when the samples fit on the smaller girls. Or try to find a salon that carries plus size samples. Kleinfeld's Loft has some, and there is always David's Bridal.

i have the same problem they generally at bridal salons have the average size 8 to try on so they had to 'clip' the dresses on..i took the 'bigger' girls all together it didnt work out that bad also...i also found that seperates were sized better and they were all able to pick something they felt comfortable in

i am a plus size bride. and my moh is plus as well. i got all of our dresses at davids bridal. (dont go to the one in glen cove!!!!)they didnt have the color in that size so they ordered one. the only bad thing is their dress sizes run small.

I have all ranges of BMs so I decided to go with the separates so each could pick what they would feel comfortable in. The samples were still in a size 8 so my sister who is tiny tried them on and my other sisters just picked which one they thought they would feel comfortable in.

I think its important to pick a dress that all will be comfortable in. If nothing else have the same designer and color just different styles....

Plus size girls will know that they dont have the samples in all sizes....It stinks, but I am sure most girls get it.

Speaking as someone who was plus sized at one time and in weddings, I would suggest trying to get something they are comfortable in, but don't take them seperately.

Most plus sized women have dealt with this on other occasions (don't get me started on my prom dress buying experience) and have an idea of what they are in for. I think treating them differently than the other BMs might make them feel worse about their size. JMO.

I called around and a few stores had a few dresses. Bridal Garden in Bethpage had 3 plus size dresses and The Wedding Center had a few as well. i read that Kleinfelds The Loft has a good selection so it might be worht venturing into the city.

Re: PLUS size BMs

I'm doing RK Bridal. I'm hoping that when we walk in, they'll know enough to say, okay this is what we can give you to try on. I've basically got 5/6 of my girls confirmed to go shopping together and the 6th (the plus'est) has not responded. I'm wondering if this is what is tripping her up. Does anyone know what RK has to help out with this? Also, I was thinking of doing black (which will look good on everyone) and trimming or a sash in a pastel color, with every girl in a different pastel. I'm willing to do different styles for different body types, but there aren't that many different styles WITH the two-tone thing in any single designer. How bad would it be to cross designers? Also, how would we even know what looks good on my bigger girls if they can't even try it on. I really wish the stores were smarter and carried bigger dresses for samples!

I went with 4 out of five of my BM's. Only one was able to fit into the tiny sample of a dress. She basically spent the entire day changing in and out of dresses until everyone agreed on one. We basically had to go with blind faith that it would look good on them.

I let them pick the dress, so I figured if they all agreed, then they must feel the style will suit them.

The Bridal center in Baldwin was wonderful to work with with one of my BM. She got an Emme dress and the sample was pretty generous, this line carries size 2 to I think 28.
