I am not in NY and larger size samples are somewhat limited here. I am going dress shopping in 2 weeks and will have some plus size gowns to try
BUT I wanted to know if any of you were able to squeeze into regular size samples if there was a dress that you loved?
I just don't want to be STUCK with a dress I don't love only because it had a plus size sample.
Thanks

Re: Plus Size Brides
I tried on at least 5 gowns at Macy's Bridal in Manhasset. The attendant said she had more but I found the one by the time I tried on the 5th gown.
I know David's Bridal definitely has a selection of plus size gowns. Also, I saw some at RK Bridal in Manhattan.
I live in Chicago and I purchased my gown during a trip home in January.

Re: Plus Size Brides
Sorry totally misread your post
As for liking a dress that doesn't come in your size. The shops do a good job of pinning gowns on you, so you get an idea of what it will look like on you.
Do you have some gowns that you like? Call the salons and ask them what size samples they have.

Re: Plus Size Brides
I have a list of stores (3 including David's) that say they have a good selection of larger sizes.
Then there is one that says they can help me try on non plus sizes and one that says they have a few plus sizes and she emailed me the styles and only 3 sounds like something I would like.
I am trying not to stress yet!
Thanks for offering to help. If this doesn't pan out I will be cutting it close but I will have to look for a dress in NY in April.

I went to Valentina's in Brooklyn and tried on a regular size dress and when it arrived in my size I loved it even more.

Re: Plus Size Brides
The dress I wore was a Paloma Blanca in the Diva collection. Here is a link & it will tell you the stores that sell their dresses. See if you see anything you like. Store Listings

Re: Plus Size Brides
Do a gown search on thekknot.com, they will tell you what places carry them near you. That's what I did

Re: Plus Size Brides
Don’t worry most bridal salons who know their stuff will be able to pin it on you so you can get the idea. I will admit it was frustrating sometimes because I felt I would get a better idea if it were in my size but 90% of the time it was a good snapshot. Happy Shopping!!!!

Re: Plus Size Brides
Thanks for all the tips. If I don't find a dress that I LOVE in a plus size samples I will just move to having them pin the others on I guess.
Wish me luck 2 weeks from tomorrow. Let the fun begin.

Re: Plus Size Brides
Alfred Angelo has a pretty good selection of plus sizes. I would go to there site and do a store locator search.
