Plus Size Brides??

Plus Size Brides??

I am going to start dress shopping next month and I am buying my dress from Bridal Reflections, but they only have size 10s (real size 4-6) and there is no way I am getting into that...what did you (or your plus size friends) do when trying on wedding gowns? They told me that they can hold it up in a way so you know exactly how it will look, but to be honest, I dont trust that.

Any help?? TIA!

Does the bridal center in centereach carry samples of all gowns in an assortment of sizes or just some gowns?

Go to some places that carry larger sizes to get a good idea what style you like...then you can go to a place that doesn't necessarily carry your size. Even though a lot of the samples didn't fit me completely...i was able to put them on and get a good idea of what it looked like.

I highly recommend Lillette's in Baldwin...I worked with Lydia and she helped me find the perfect dress (and had the patience of a saint with me)

Good luck and enjoy!

I went to Davids Bridal first so I could try on all different styles in my size and see what looked good on me. Once I finally decided on a style I started going to different bridal salons.

There is also this place on Merrick in Lynbrook that carrys alot of plus size dresses... I got a lot of ideas of styles from there too...Maybe its called Elegant Bride?

Seriously, I think its hard to tell exactly what a dress wil look like if you can't out it on... Thats why I called places ahead of time to make sure they have some larger sample sizes available, and if I couldn't put the dress on, I just didn't consider it. Every dress I tried on fit differently and you just can't get that effect if someone is just holding it in front of you.

I second Lillette's and Lydia!! You get a much better sense of the dress when you actually try it on! They had tons of larger sizes to try!

I went to Adrienne's (and had absolutely no problem with them) and they had larger sizes in some dresses.

I agree try the dresses on elsewhere...Bridal Reflections had very few over a size 10 or 12. And they carry the higher end dresses- to me it seems the more $$$$ the dress, the smaller they run.

Good luck!

(PS- I wouldn't commit yourself to one store just yet- you never know what you may find! )

Also consider Burton's. Someone I know went there and if the dress was too small, they actually ripped the dress at the seams so she could put it on. They made sure she knew what it looked like on.
