Re: Plus Size Brides.. where did you try on dresses?
David's Bridal carries a wide variety of sizes. It's good to go there even if you don't want to buy from them to see what styles you like and what looks good on you.

I went to DB in Lake Grove with my girls for BM dresses. Their BM dresses went up to size 22, which was great since one of my BMs is a 16 while my MOH is a 0. I'd think their wedding dresses must have similar size options, but you should probably search the boards on here anyway because there were a lot of DB rants, though I don't remember about what specifically.

Paradise Bridal in Patchogue was great!!! They had a bunch to try on. And if there was one that was too small, their sales people work wonders with clips to make it look right on you.

I cannot rave enough about my experience in Bridaltown. It's far from LI - but completely worth it.
They have an ENTIRE building dedicated to sizes 12 & up - with dresses that actually fit you! It was so nice to be able to close a dress properly and see how it fits without clips!
I can't say enough really - i was sooooo happy with my experience there! I HIGHLY recommend the ladies there!!!!

Angel Bridals in Islip also has dresses up to size 28 for you to try on and they were really wonderful to work with!
Good Luck

David's Bridal had a variety of sizes. I was nervous reading about some of the experiences before I went. I ended up being pleasantly surprised and had a great experience. I went to the store in Lake Grove. I would recommend, however, that if you can, go during the daytime on a weekday. It was empty, and I'm sure that helped make my experience a better one. I wouldn't go near that place on a Saturday.

I went to Davids, Bridal Reflections and Renates and was able to try on (almost) everything (eventhough some didn't close in the back) Some had sizes up to 28 to try on. It depends on what size you are (bridal dresses run up to 2 sizes smaller than others PITA ). My sister couldn't fit in some of the samples, she held it up to her and got an idea of how it would look (they only had the dress she wanted in a size 12).

I tried them on at Paradise and also at the Wedding Center of Commack. They had a big selection. Once I found my dress, I ordered it from the Bridal Suite of Huntington and they did a great job with the alterations.

I went to Angel Bridals in East Islip, they did the same with me with the clips, they were great there too!

I need to know pleaseeeeee!!!
Beautiful Bride on Merrick Road in Lynbrook carries Alfred Angelo dresses and they come in plus-sizes. Beautiful Bride had the dress that I wanted in a size that fit...so I was able to try it on and see how it will fit.....
