Does anyone know where I can try on Bridal dress that have large sizes. I am a street size 11-12 and need a bridal dress size 18.
Can I just say how horrible is feels to try on a size 16/18 and not be able to close the zipper. Most places don't have a lot of large sizes and if they do they have 22+W.
If anyone has any suggestions please let me now.
p.s No David's Bridal
Thanks

Re: Plus size Wedding Dress!
If you are willing to go into the city...RK Bridal had a huge selection of plus sizes. It ranged from 14 and up. They have a whole rack of plus sized dresses. I bought my dress there and was very pleased. They don't pamper you but the selection and prices make up for it. Just try to go on a weekday....the weekends it gets pretty hectic.

Re: Plus size Wedding Dress!
I was in the same boat I wear a 12 as well, and was so frustrated to try on gowns that wouldn't zip because I have a large bust. I tried my gown in a size 12 (It didn't zip but they held it with clips and I feel in love with it). However, I did try on a lot of gowns in plus sizes gowns at Fantasia Rocky point. They have a good number of plus size gowns.

I'm a street size 12 or 14....and my wedding dress was ordered in a 22 UGH! I'm just saying...prepare because depending on the manufacturer...you don't know where you might come out.
I was able to try on my dress, Pronovias carried dresses labeled 14 which they will clip to your bra and then put in a privacy panel in the back. It worked out fine. I also was not the only one, I saw a few girls like that.

Re: Plus size Wedding Dress!
This is so sad that the bridal industry cuts their dresses so small and make regular sized brides feel terrible about themselves..so unfair. ...I'm a street size 12 so probably i'll be a 18 then

I would suggest RK Bridal. I also tried on dresses at Princess Bridals on Jeruselum Avenue. I purchased my dress through them but I did not try my dress on. I tried on other Alfred Angelos, and I am a street size 14 and I know how it feels lol When they told me they had to order a 'plus size' gown...I was like 'whatever...the sizes run small' but it's just the fact that they even tried to charge me extra! Good thing Alfred Angelo doesn't charge for PS!

You can really go anywhere. Most places carry dresses in the larger sizes. And if they don't, then you'll just try on a smaller size and get clipped in.
And, btw, don't worry - you aren't such a 'plus' size girl. A size 16 or 18 wedding gown is almost average!
Bridal salons are used to seeing girls in all shapes and sizes come in. Don't feel intimidated at all!

Re: Plus size Wedding Dress!
I feel so much better after seeing this. I am normaly 12-14 and when I tried on dresses last week I could barely zip up the 16 on 2 of the dresses and on the 3rd I couldnt get the zipper up at all. I was so upset. At least i know its normal now

They are evil seriously! Then they charge you extra for the 18! I ordered a 18 dress but after it came in I had to take it in three inches at least. STUPID!
When dress shopping I fit in nothing, I couldn't go to a plus size store because I am not plus sized (they only carried 22 and up) I couldn't go to a regular shop since a sample is 10/12 and I am a size 14 but getting back down to a 12 its like come on! I realize samples are 10's typically but in this day in age when women are on a average a street size 12/14 carry some damn 14,16's at least so we have a freaking chance to walk out with out having everything hanging out.
The only luck I had to even try on anything is if it was a corset back and a size 12 sample. Pretty much anywhere has them. Anything else your going out of the room with the back open and if your lucky clipped on you.

Re: Plus size Wedding Dress!
I went to RK Bridal where I ultimately got my dress...HUGE selection there.
I also went to The Wedding PLaza in Floral Park...equally HUGE selection of dresses there.
For me it was VERY important to be able to see the dress on me in my size.
GOod luck!

Go to Lilletts in Baldwin and Helens in Commack. I was a street size 18 when I went to both of the them and I did not have a problem. I think Bridal Reflections in Massapequa also carries larger sizes, but not 100% sure about them. Good Luck

Re: Plus size Wedding Dress!
Thank for the advice and encourgement. The stores I have been to have a small selection of size 16/18 gowns. I have been trying dresses size 12/14/16 and I know it is normal but it just hate being clipped on to the dresses. (Also I don't think it helps that everytime I have tried dresse then is someone next to whose dress is too big and has to be clipped to make it fit ).
I know this is normal I am just venting.
Thanks for listening.

Re: Plus size Wedding Dress!
It's hard to accept and be happy with who we are sometimes. Especially when , like you say, someone else is being clipped into their dress to make them fit and we have to have someone hold it up for us b/c it wont close or clip hah. I don't care though. I can't change who I am and I don't want to , just to be able to fit into a size 0 wedding dress. =D Us women are really hard on our selves sometimes. Especially when we have to go through this wedding dress stuff. It makes it worse, but just try to remember its just a number. It doesn't define who you are. :)

i 2nd Lillettes and Helen's. I found my dress at Lillettes and runner up at Helen's.
I would also say Village Bridal and Boutique. They had a few that were too big and few that fit over me, but i just couldnt close. But, i def got a picture of what it would look like in my head.
There are plenty of us out there. Dont feel bad. Trust me. I did...but realized that I am not the only beautiful plus size girl getting married.

Re: Plus size Wedding Dress!
I am a street size 8 and had to order my dress in a 12.....I know it stinks but at least you know that you have got curves....when you are in jeans, you have booty and I see most of you saying that you are busty.....be happy because Marilyn Monroe was the same way!!
We are definitely too hard on ourselves sometimes.....even after losing 25 pounds (probably 20 after the way I have been eating the last few weeks) I still complained....then I said that I love WHO I am and my FH loves me just the way I am......forget about the designers and there need to make average ladies feel fat....you know you are beautiful!!!
