So Frustrating!! Has anyone been able to find plus sized dresses that don't look like they are for the prom?! All of the websites I have seen make the plus size dresses seem so cheesy and not wedding-like. The only ones that seem half way decent are Alfred Angelo and those I'm not even too sure about!
Has anyone actually gone and tried on the Disney collection from Alfred Angelo or any of his other dresses for that matter?
What about other stores? Any suggestions? I want to be able to go to a store and try on a dress that at least somewhat fits so I get a good idea of what my actual dress would look like!

All my dresses are Alfred Angelo I like them. My wedding gown is a dream in color dress. And I came over 3k under my dress budget. I already had a Davids bridal dress from the personalized color dresses(which is just hanging in my closet ) but feel in love dream in color and just had to have it

Mori Lee has some really nice bridal gowns! I found that Estelle's has the largest selection of Mori Lee.

this! they have all sizes. if you don't want to buy a dress from here, you can at least try on to get an idea of what you want to look for at other places

Da Vinci
I bought my dress at Lillette's and I tried on the plus size dresses there so they do have them in stock to try on.

Re: Plus Sized Dresses?
My gown is from David's and it's a Galina Signature gown. While some of their stuff isn't great, they have really changed their image and they had a large number of more 'couture' like gowns and their prices are reasonable. Plus you can try gowns on in any size from 0-26. I LOVE my gown and it's been in several magazines lately in both regular and plus. I like that they make the same dress for anyone rather than just the plus size.
I got mine from Paradise it was Davinci. That designer has a plus size line so the sample I tried on was a 20 and because they are a plus size line there was not an upcharge for a bigger size. I did go to Davids as well and they had a lot of plus sizes too.

Re: Plus Sized Dresses?
I went to Fantasia first... they didn't have a lot to choose from based on what I was looking for. I did try on a beautiful Sotero and MIdgley that I really liked though.. and they have quite a few Maggie Sottero
Then I went to PAradise. Liz was an amazing consultant and spent hours with me but ultimately most of the plus sized samples they had were very matronly to me. There were a couple that were ok, but nothing I was in love with.
Finally, I went to Village Bridal in Babylon and they had a lot of more modern samples. I wound up getting my dress there and it turned out to be a dress that I had my eye on for a long time online and didn't even realize I was trying on until they told me what it was.
I'd recommend trying VB. But try to go during the week and during the day if you can, the consultants are much more helpful.
ETA, my dress is Sophia Tolli, a faction of Mon Cheri. Gorgeous dresses, really.

Re: Plus Sized Dresses?
I wore a size 28 in my wedding dress and I had a beautiful Maggie Sottero. Don't feel like you're limited to 'plus size brands.' Lots of 'regular size' designers go into the plus sizes.

Yes, this. If you find dresses that you like in regular sizes, many designers cut them for plus sizes too. A lot of sophia tolli and maggies go up to 28.

Hi
We went to: David's Bridal Bridal world in Baldwin. Paradise Bridal in Patchoque Village Bridal in Babylon Lillette's in Baldwin
They all had Plus Size samples. I wear a street size 18 and wear a 'G' cup bra..
I found dresses I liked at all of them. We found the service at Bridal World to be below average, David's and Paradise service was OK. We thought the service at Lillette's was good and thought Village Bridal was the best.
I fell in love with a dress at Lillette's and ordered it last week

Re: Plus Sized Dresses?
Pretty much every designer makes plus sized gowns. Anything you see in a magazine can be ordered in your size, so don't limit yourself to what's being advertised as plus size. David's Bridal is a good place to start because they dohave samples in all sizes and you can get an idea of how different sihlouettes look on you. My gown is a Demetrios. Although I'm not close to sample size, the ladies at Macy's MAnhasset were able to work magic so I could try on the gowns there as well. Same for my sister back in the day at Kleinfeld and her Eve of Milady.
