Re: Pocketbooks

First let me say that I am OBSESSED with bags..

I use to buy knock-offs like CRAZY!!

But, last year for Christmas my brother (God, I love him!! hehe) bought me my first real Coach bag..and there's a MAJOR difference in quality. This is coming from someone who use to think it was a waste of money...

Basically, I'll wear either..if it's cute..I'm getting it!! However, since I got my Coach bag, I haven't worn any of my knock-offs. I just never want to stop wearing it! hehe

The truth of the matter is..I can't afford to have 20 real designer handbags..so I'll buy it when I can, hopefully my FH loves me and buys me more..but for the most part..i'm a knock-off girl, I guess!

i have alot of real coach bags and some fake fendi and gucci bags.. the quality of the knock offs are shiiit.. but who wants to spend like $1200 on a bag?! but i saw a tyra show and she said if you buy knock offs you're supporting terrorism and illegal immigration and such.. and so now i feel bad about buying them lol

haha funny story. I love Coach and Louis V bags! All my bags have been real until a lady I worked with was selling fake Coach bags (Goach bag as I call them b/c their C's look like G's sometimes) and I bought one despite FH saying NOT TO. So we went to the mall that day (w my fake bag) and i wanted to go into the Coach store to look around. Reluctantly he followed me in and like 10 seconds later was like OK thats it lets go and Im like why? So we leave and hes like 'take your stuff out of that fake bag when we get home and throw it out. Everyone in there was staring at your FAKE Coach bag and it was sooo embarrassing!!'. and so Im not allowed to buy fake again and I said fine as long as he's buying.

I only buy and wear real. I can tell the difference of a real and fake LV (many people can) and I've caught a number of people that swore up and down their bag was real. Now they don't wear them anymore

Re: Pocketbooks

i haven't bought a knockoff since i started working. it's really the only thing i'm a snob about - I have 3 gucci bags and two ferragamos that i love. it's like Carrie with her manolos.... I was going to try to transfer my fetish to shoes, but i can't spend the money on uncomfortable shoes. that's where I'm cheap

FH actually bought me two of the guccis - he has no idea what he started.

I'd do the same thing. That's why I would never buy it from ebay. Coach, LV, Fendi, etc. all have a department that focuses on fake products and they go after people like that that sell knock offs.

I have a few real coach bags and 1 fake coach bag. i'm not so sure my fake one is fake b/c a lady at a coach counter thought it was real and no one seems to be able to tell it's fake. but i'd prefer to have the real bags anyday! the best find was the coach outlet in lee massachusetts.

Re: Pocketbooks

I don't own any fakes - I bought a fake Gucci bag once, but realized what shiiit it was when I got it, I gave it away. When xmas came around that year I got a bonus and bought the real thing. I have a few Coach bags but don't really use them anymore. I'm not too into brands so if I like the bag I buy it, whether it's Kenneth Cole, Cole Haan, etc.

Obviously I'm on a bag ban - not buying any new bags unti after the wedding (and it's killing me cuz I need something new!)

I agree if it's cute and affordable I can go either way... lol. Unfortunately I only own about 2 real Coach pocketbooks..FH says its a waste..lol

I am obsessed with bags!! I won't buy fakes because if I can't afford the real thing, I really don't need to have it. To me, buying a LV, Dior or Marc Jacobs -- my faves-- is an investment and I'd rather spend the money and have a fabulous bag I can carry for years instead of a fake one that will look fake and fall apart.

I'd rather have real, but i have a few knockoffs. i do have a few real coach and dooney bags. if i have the money, i'll buy the real one. otherwise, if i really want it i'll buy a fake or just have my mom buy it!!

I've always wanted to go down to canal street. people seem to get good deals down there and you can never tell!

I try to save money on clothes and what not b/c I shop a lot at marshalls or with coupons at department stores, but I'm a total bag snob. Once you go real, you never go back!

Re: Pocketbooks

Now this is my kind of topic. Bags are not just an obsession the right ones are an investment. I don't buy knockoffs (I did once it was a long time ago and I was in Italy) but that doesn't mean I won't buy a bag in Target or Old Navy if I like it. I don't ever get rid of expensive bags that I don't like are don't use anymore. They get wrapped and boxed up and put away you never know when they will come back in style -- and remember vintage bags are always the best.

Re: Pocketbooks

I had bought 2 fake bags in Chinatown back in HS but have only owned authentic (or no-name) bags since. The quality is so much better, they last forever, and they have a great resale value.

I used to post a lot on a purse board where a lot of verified sellers would post, and I learned a lot about authenticating bags (Coach and LV for the most part, but if it's a glaring fake I can usually tell for other brands too).

I have a bunch of LV and Coach bags, many were bought used from legit sellers on ebay (it is possible to buy the real deal from ebay if you know what to look for) or the purse boards and I've also resold a ton of bags. (All authentic)

I haven't bought a new bag in like 2 yrs though
