pocketfolds-edited with link to invite

Ok...I'm up to invitations!! just under 6 months to go! Amazing how fast it goes!

Okay i really love a carlson Craft pocketfold but two things are bothering me and I need your opinons...

1. it is not 'raised ink' (thermography) It is flat as if computer printed. Does anyone think this will make it too informal for a formal saturday night wedding?

2. Carlson Craft Pocketfolds need to be assembled by us and I was wondering if anyone has done this already and can tell me if it really was a nightmare. I am ordering 175 invitations.

Thanks for your help once again!

Re: pocketfolds

Mine are computer printed too. To tell ya the truth, I don't think anyone noticed. Its an invitation and people throw it out.

People were so blown away by the pocketfold itself ( alot of people have never seen them( that they didn't even notice the print

Are you sure its not thermography.. I believe Carlson Craft invites are??

I don't think the raised printing matters at all.
The only people who really said anything to us about the raised printing were the couples who are getting married this year.

I was worried too about ours not having raised printing but I doubt anyone will even notice- if you love the invites, definately go for it without the raised printing

Re: pocketfolds

All major invitation companies offer thermography printing, some offer letterpress as well. Also, most good invitation store, online or not should offer thermography printing as an option. It is usually not that much more!

Traditionally, thermography and letterpress printing are the forms used for a formal event. While flat printing has become popular these days it is really a matter of opinion. You don't throw formal event very often in life so why not go traditional?

As for assembling the pocket fold, how much assembling are you talking about? Do you have to glue anything? If it's just stuffing the inserts, with a few extra hands it shouldn't take you that long!

Re: pocketfolds

well i thought it was going to be a big deal - not having thermography printing - but when i saw my sample with flat printing i loved it and thought it looked fine....

I don't really look for raised printing, so as a guest it wouldn't matter to me...i'm sure a lot of people wouldn't notice its absence

Re: pocketfolds

When it comes to pocketfolds I dont think that the raised ink makes a big difference. Like a PP said everyone gets so excited that it is a pocketfold which many have not seen that they dont pay attention to if it is raised or not.
Assembly- yes it is a pain in the ----- to assemble I spent many hours with one of my BM's putting them together BUT the finished product is well worth it.

Re: pocketfolds

I think a pocketfold really doesn't need raised print on it. I think if you have a standard panel card you kinda need the raise print to bring it to life. It really doesn't make too much of a diff to me honestly. Style is style and is not determined by print being raised.

As far as assembly I did my own stuff all DIY and it was a pain but if you want it then do it. Just do a set number per day and don't go over or less and its not so bad.

thanks girls...apparently that one book Cannot be ordered with thermography. I guess I'll keep looking if it is bothering me.

ALso the assembly is all the glueing as well not just stuffing. says comes with glue dots that you must put it all together.

you'd think it was 1/2 price haha

Re: pocketfolds

i am doing pocketfolds from pippys sweets and she will do almost all the work for us, all we need to do is stamp the response envelope, put it in, and use dots to seal them, stuff outer envelope, seal, and stamp, all the inserts are in already....
dont know if this helps, sorry

We got Carlson Craft ink and we got so many compliments on them! Also we put our invitations together ourselves with the glue dots that they supplied. We put together 200 pocketfold invitations in 2 days and we did it in 2 hour shifts both days. It was so easy and I am kind of glad that we chose to do them ourselves because we have so much pride in them.
