I have awhile until Fh's birthdya in June, but he's really into poker, so I was thinking of buying him a nice poker set and having friends over for a 'poker night.' Except I barely know anything about poker.
Any ideas?
Also, I don't want to play for real money...so should I have prizes or something for the people with the most chips at the end, or prizes you can 'buy' with your chips?
What else do I need? I've only ever seen poker on TV or online, and then there's a professional dealer...Do I need a tabletop cover thing, or what?

DH's friends did get him a green plastic visor though, and he wore it all night in the bar! So embarrasing, but he loved it!

Yeah I was thinking movie tickets, bottle of something, DVD, inexpensive poker kit....
maybe the $10 buy in could work...but I don't want it to be like 3 people playing seriously for the money, and the rest of us lose and just sit there totally bored.

I think it would be funny because it would make fun of the whole idea of a poker night.
Maybe I can dress up as an cigarette girl or something..LOL
I can dress up the place as like a casino and the living room can be a 'high rollers lounge' even though it'll really be for the losers..LOL

maybe I can get those slot machine banks... and people can play 'slots'...haha

If you want you can also play individual hands of poker..no tournament. We usually go around the table and each person picks a different poker game...texas holdem, omaha, five card stud, etc..and obviously, at the end of each game there is a winner. This way would probably require more prizes..but, at least everyone is playing for the whole time..
