Polish Wedding

Polish Wedding

So my FH is from Poland (his mom still lives there) and I wanted to know if there are any Polish 2011 brides. I think that his family would really enjoy some traditional touches during our wedding. I know that there is a bread tradition during the ceremony, but I'm not sure if our priest will allow that. I also know that there is a money dance during the reception. What else is there that any of you are doing? I've looked these things up online in the past, but I'd rather get some ideas from girls who are planning to do these things and have discussions about the progress, planning, etc..

Re: Polish Wedding

both myself and Fh are Polish. They have a tradition that is done at the reception with the parents and the bride and groom. This is what we are doing:

bread, wine, salt and a silver coin

The bride and groom each taste a piece of bread to signify: 'MAY YOU NEVER GO HUNGRY'

They each sip a little wine to signify: 'ENJOY THE SWEETNESS IN LIFE'

They each place a spec of salt on their tounge to signify: 'MAY YOU OVERCOME THE BITTERNESS IN LIFE'

Silver Coin: They each hold the coin between their right hands together to signify: 'MAY YOU BE WEALTHY WITH GOOD HEALTH AND NEVER BE IN A FINANCIAL STRESS'

Not a problem. My cousin did it at her reception and it was great!
