Tipping the Priest/Deacon or whomever is holding your ceremony. I feel that if we are giving a donation we shouldn have too, but then again dont want to do the wrong thing if mostly everyone tips them. Im so confused. Please help me out and take my poll. If you plan to how much do you plan to give it you dont mind me asking. thanks,

Re: Poll: are you--REPOST
I don't plan on tipping the preist, then again I plan on asking my great-uncle (a preist) to be the officiant, and he, of course, will be invited to the reception and everything...

If you are giving a donation, then you shouldn't have to tip...I think they consider it rude to do so and wouldn't take it anyway....

Re: Poll: are you--REPOST
you should NEVER tip clergy. You can give them a gift as a show of appreciation, in addition to any donation, but never a tip....

Re: Poll: are you--REPOST
I know that my MIL gave a thank you gift to the monseignor who did our wedding. The donation is actually for the church and I would think that a small thank you to the actual priest would be nice. But I didn't really have a say in it, MIL took care of all stuff related to the church.

Re: Poll: are you--REPOST
I am not tipping my priest. I do not think it is necessary at all. Not to mention the fact that the original deacon I met with told me that the fee for a deacon's services is automatically given to the parish, while the fee for the priest is his to pocket. I found that to be strange.
