Poll: Band or DJ??

I'm sure this has been done before but I am suddenly curious...

We had a DJ...word about bands...my brother booked a band way in advance of his wedding--almost 2 years--and by the time the wedding rolled around, the band was completely different and not for the better. A lot of members had left.

I am a band girl too. We also had it specified in our contract that our band would be the same people that we saw perform. Make sure you pick a band that has been playing together with the same members for a long time.

Our contract says the same thing. The names of each band member are listed on the side.

I voted for a DJ. I went to a wedding this past weekend and they had a band. I really have to say that I prefer a DJ. I don't know but when a band does a song it's just not the same. For example, their wedding song would have sounded so much nicer if it was the actual CD -- it loses something when with the band. I don't know, JMO. They were very good though!!!

Totally depends on the band. I've seen some amazing bands that would blow a DJ away, but some are just bad.

There was a band we really really wanted but they were booked on my date so we went with a DJ. Now I see that the bass player and lead singer have left so I feel like it was fate!!

DJ. A DJ can play everything a band can't. When my mom got married (33 years ago) They came to her right before they where about to come in and said Im sorry we don't know your wedding song. You have to pick another she had no idea so they picked one for her. I know now they will ask you before and study the music but still!

Me too! It's just a different kind of atmosphere, though, and it depends what you're going for. Personally, I want a fun party atmosphere but I know most of my friends would prefer a more elegant atmosphere and 9 out of 11 are having bands.

i know the band i am having is.....who ever is on the contract will be at our wedding..

each member has a contract and they can't break it

Band- I just think it gives you a different type of wedding but the cost is really crazy!

Aha..the never ending Band/DJ debate.

Me I like a band. Live music gets me in the mood to party.

Others like to here their music the way the artist sang it.

I think there's nothing worse than a bad band so you do have to make sure they will play what u like and how u like it.

Now that I think of it I've never been to a wedding witha band, but that's what we are having!

Actually, one slighly off-beat weddign I went to had a kleszmer band, but that was outdoors.

So I don't really know what having a band at an indoor wedding will be like. But I didn't want a party atmosphere. We don't like to dance really.

I think it depends on what you like. Do you have a lot of younger guests? maybe a dj is good. It really depends on what you can afford. Also have you seen showcases w/ each. What sound do you like better? I decides i wanted to go w/ band and DJ just b/c I wanted the sound of live music and the sound of a dj torwards the end or even while eating.
