I've been told that we should think about having additional desserts at the reception, like a dessert table. But we're having petit fours and appetizers for cocktail hour, do you think that's enough, or should we consider additions?

Does it really matter who started the post? We all seem to be somewhat interested in the subject anyway. (just my .02)

P.S. Kate— JD&ML started this thread before LIWeddings posted that thread and disabled their account.

IMHO, viennese is a bit of a waste. After cocktail hour + dinner, people are usually stuffed to the hilt.
I was going to suggest the MS candy bar when I first saw this post, as I think it's a really cute idea, but I see someone beat me to it. You can always put your own spin on things and do cookies, mini-wedding cakes or a scaled down MS candy bar.
I do think it's nice though, to offer another dessert aside from wedding cake. For whatever reason, some people will not touch wedding cake under any circumstances. For my wedding, the cake (which everyone told me was excellent), was plated with vanilla ice cream served in a chocolate cup, along with chocolate covered strawberries, cookies and petit fours.
If there's a dessert you and your FI truly adore, why not incorporate it into your day. There are those who go nuts for Ring Dings (Yes, I'm guilty), while others love Dove Bars. How about B&J ice cream? Or whatever else you absolutely love?

Re: Poll: Besides the cake, any other desserts?
We decided against the dessert bar, we felt like it was way too much and we wanted people to get up and dance and not sit there all night just eating. Our hall will give out cookies to the tables and will also have an espresso/cappucino bar.
Also, I wanted to add that the additional desserts were an extra expense which we felt was way too $$$.

We had a choice between dessert course or vieneese hour. We opted to go w/ the dessert course. We are having a plate of mixed fruit, cheesecake, and an apple caramel cake....

we had a Vienese at the Milleridge. I am not usually into it but since they set it up in a seperate room I was fine with it. I didn't get to eat any of it but my guests said it was fantastic
