POLL: better menu choices?

what sounds like a better menu choice for a private party (NOT a wedding)?

what would you choose for yourself?

the first one will start with salad, but has pasta as a side dish

the second starts with pasta, and there is a veggie as a side dish

(so thats pretty much the same)

so it comes down to menu selections....

HELP PLEASE!

i feel like the second choice would be more universally accepted. the first choice seems too 'italian' which many may not like (although I love)
