I say 7.... That way the reception starts at 8 and is over by 12.... Wont run too late that way... Especially for people that are going right after work...

Hi, I don't think you'll really have any daylight in January at 7pm, here on the East coast, but if your wedding is on a different date you can find out the actual sunrise and sunset times here at this site:
we're doing 7:30, and our ceremony starts at 5:30 .. and in january there won't be sun at 7, but I love it because I really want alot of candles to make it look romantic!

I would say the earlier the better in the winter. Mine is in April and we were originally going to do 7 but we're pushing it back to 7:30 because people have to travel. We have a really BIG gap between the ceremony and reception though.

Just one thing: If your wedding date is really 1/1/09, it won't be light out at 7 pm. It's usually dark by 5pm in January.

Re: POLL: Cocktail hour start time...?
I say 7. I just went to a wedding and it started at 7. It still gives people time to get home and get ready and this way it won't start later. cause I know some people are tired from there day so they might not want to stay that late if it starts at 8.

7 would probably be a good time. Mine is on a Saturday and cocktail is at 8 and everyone is complaining about it

7 pm is a good time for a Fri, maybe 630 will cut it too. But you have to remember that is rush hour. The sunset is beautiful around that time though

Re: POLL: Cocktail hour start time...?
it's a friday so i say 7:30....this way it's a little bit later (u'll give people a chance to breathe after work), but it's not so late that they'll be tired already. My CH start time was 8:30 on a friday! I think the earlier u go the harder it is because people who can't take off will have to go straight from work...and that can be tough. good luck!

Re: POLL: Cocktail hour start time...?
I voted for 7 pm because that's the time I had mine on a Fri night and it worked out great. Pretty much everyone got there on time, even from work, even some got there early.
