Help me out here-- I love the idea of someone handling all the details for me day of- but what I am really only concerned with is getting me through the ceremony- everything leading up to that is what I need help with-- limos, photog, ensuring everything is set up the way it is, etc. So I want someone from like 12 to 7pm.
I know Coordinators charge like 1000 for the day- I am trying to see if I can get it for less-- but do you think it is really worth it?
I am getting married where my reception is-- it's everything leading up to the big event I am concerned about. I am afraid to delegate to people.

Re: Poll: Day of Wedding Coordinator
I'm also getting married at my hall and I think it's 100% worth it if you hire the right person. It's definitely expensive, but I'd rather pay $1000 or whatever and have someone else deal with the headache of making sure my placecards are set up how I wanted and that each vendor is fulfilling their contractual responsibilities so that I can actually ENJOY my wedding and leave those details to someone else. Also, I didn't want to burden my BP or family with carrying around the vendor payments and having to stop their good time to pay the vendors. I say go for it! Just my 2 cents

Re: Poll: Day of Wedding Coordinator
I agree-- it's just these 'only 1,000' are really starting to add up!!
I actually asked my banquet manager if I needed someone- and she said she would handle everything for me.. but, I mean- everything starts like 5 hours before it's showtime for her..
I posted on the vendor board- and if it is the right fit with person and price- I think I am going to do it..
Makes me sick how much this wedding is!!

I definitely think it is worth it...
You should call Elaine Deluca from Exquisite Events --I am using her...Everyone says she is awesome...
I also met with Corina Ann from Detailed Elegance --she also got married at the Carltun and does a lot of work there...She was my second choice and is actually cheaper than Elaine I believe...She seemed great too...Let me know if you want more details...

We used Laura from LA Productions and it was the best money I spent! I definitely think it is worth it.

Re: Poll: Day of Wedding Coordinator
I think it is sooo worth it for the piece of mind it will bring you. We used Elaine Deluca and she was a life saver. Towards the end she took care of confirming all the vendors and going over all the details and on the day of she made sure everything was just the way I wanted it. She is pickier than I am so she made sure all my hard work and preparation went as planned or tried to fix it when it didn't. Like my hall unalphabetizing my placecards that I spent so long putting in order (who knows why they did that). Elaine sat there and reorganized them. These lare the ittle things you don't want to worry about. Plus she handles the vendor payments so my family could enjoy and have no worries. I hope you find someone in your price range.

Re: Poll: Day of Wedding Coordinator
I think it TOTALLY depends on your hall! Mine asked me not to hire someone - they would just get in the way. The woman at Raphael runs the whole show. I assumed most Banquet Managers do the same thing - why else are they there?

If you think you might need one, you probably do. Its money well spent b/c it allows you to relax and just enjoy.

I asked my Banquet Manager this also when I was considering it a while ago.. and she said I did not need anyone..
BUT- what I am concerned with is like the getting ready part- and making sure all the vendors are being managed, etc. Especially photography--
I work with all event planners- including my MOH who just FREAKED out on me for considering this.. saying I didn't need it and I can ask bridal party to do everything- but that's the point.. I am sure I will follow up with everyone anyway.. and feel like I will need to do it myself.. that;s the way I am..
IMO I planned all of this myself (pretty much) for a year and a half, if I got this far, I will be fine on the big day.

Re: Poll: Day of Wedding Coordinator
I have been debating this as well. I don't want to have to worry on the big day and I am a big worrier as you all know. My mom says she could handle it but I don't want her to. I also saw that LAproductions made the votive candle holders for Peabody. I would love someone to handle this for me!!!

I'm using Rosalie from Expressions. I hired her for the whole planning process, and have been really happy so far.

Re: Poll: Day of Wedding Coordinator
I decided to get one because my dad is a big worrier and I don't want him to stress during a day that I really want him to enjoy. I think it also takes a lot of pressure off my maid of honor (sister) so that she can enjoy more of the day. My day of coordinator is going to be at my house pretty much from when I wake up that morning and will oversee everything, so for me it's worth it. I hope this helps.
