Help me out here-- I love the idea of someone handling all the details for me day of- but what I am really only concerned with is getting me through the ceremony- everything leading up to that is what I need help with-- limos, photog, ensuring everything is set up the way it is, etc. So I want someone from like 12 to 7pm.
I know Coordinators charge like 1000 for the day- I am trying to see if I can get it for less-- but do you think it is really worth it?
I am getting married where my reception is-- it's everything leading up to the big event I am concerned about. I am afraid to delegate to people.

Re: Poll: Day of Wedding Coordinator
i am definitely getting one. i've been meeting with them all week, but i'm in the city. just knowing that i won't have to worry about something getting done at the appropriate time is worth its weight in gold!

Re: Poll: Day of Wedding Coordinator
I am big control freak and I thought about hiring a day of coordinator - briefly. I did not get married at my hall but I would think that especially if I were getting married there, not only would all the details be easier to handle (one location only), the BM and Bridal attendants should be able to handle it. I mean, what else do they get that big tip for?
My BMs & Bridal attendants did an amazing job from the moment I arrived at my reception hall to the very last minute. I was treated like royalty the entire night and did not have to worry about a thing.
As far as before the ceremony, well, since I got married at a church and then we went to gardens for photos, I can see how a coordinator may have helped, but I am such a control freak that I would not be able to delegate. But there wasn't very much to be concerned about that day anyway. The way I see it is, you've worked hard, done all your planning, dreamt up a perfect wedding day -- now sit back, let it unfold and enjoy it. But also, I was a very very organized bride (databases, spreadsheets -- you name it!) so I guess that's another reason why I didn't feel I needed one.
In the end, the day went perfectly (as far as I'm concerned, I wouldn't really change anything!) and I don't regret not hiring a day of coordinator. If I had had an extra $1000 to spend I would have put it into the food instead.

Re: Poll: Day of Wedding Coordinator
I used Judith Garner. She was great and her prices were more reasonable than the others I talked to.

We are using Laura from LA Productions. She's worth every penny we're spending.
