POLL: Do You Make More Than FH? Spinoff to salary thread

I always find it nice to be able to say to my FH:

'I make more than you so YOU get me the beer, honey.' :D

I used to, 5 years ago when I started this job. But DH has since left me in the dust. I'm glad at least one of us is getting paid what they're worth!

It did bother his ego a little. But we kept the numbers to ourselves because it's no one's business but our own. So no one had to know that I made more.

But now that he makes more, he has no problem letting anyone know that.

For those of you who do make more, do you sometimes feel resentful? I love being able to buy whatever I want but I also know that I will always have to work, even when we have kids. And as a woman, sometimes it's nice to be pampered by your man. I think a lot of times I wish our salaries were reversed

I make more now because my fiance is a poor resident. After he finishes residency, he should outearn me.

I sometimes make Fiance feel bad for being unable to wine and dine me the way I'd like to be but I'm in it for the long haul.

He took care of me when I was in grad school. Now I spoil my Fiance. He doesn't mind.

I always made a significant amount more until last year. Now we make the same. I make $1 more an hour than him.

Hm, for those girls who make less than FH or hubbie, do you guys let them pay more often? :D

Not to start anything here, I used to make more than FH but now that he's making more, I think its time he chips in more. :D

FH and I joke around all the time about this

FH owns his own business and makes a lot more than I do BUT we always joke around that he is marrying me fo the insurance and other benefits from my government job. . .

as for paying, i have never paid for a dinner or anything else while he was there. He basically pays for everything involving us - he has paid for all of our vacations in full. Even for the wedding so far I have not paid a cent BUT only because I am saving almost my whole check every month for later on when we get the real expenses rolling in. . .but he has paid all the deposits etc.

i like it that way i am old fashioned - but now it stinks bc before i felt so pampered and spoiled but now i realize its 'our' money and not 'his' money any more!

FH makes more than I do. But I am better at saving. I still live at home and have very little bills. So I have been saving almost all of my money since I was 18.

When we were first dating and I was working part-time at the bank, he never let me pay once. But once I got a full-time job, we start splitting things. I don't mind at all.

He has a lot more bills than I do so I am saving a lot more for the wedding than he is. But I also have a bigger family which means there will be more guests on my side than his. And anyway, he is saving a lot for our future.

I make more. I also tend to work more also. So I guess it balances.

I make more than FH but I wish it was the other way around. Although he jokes that when we have kids he doesn't mind being the stay at home Dad, I'm hoping that he'll get a much needed promotion soon. Then he will definitely be making more than me and I can stay home with the kids!

I make about 10K more than FH. We both have good jobs, but I worry that when we have kids I'll be the one that has to stay working. I worry that I will resent that though if it happens.

He was going to school during the day and missing at least 1 day of work a week... so I was making A LOT more. Now our salaries are fairly similar... he gets more taken out for retirement funds so my take home is about 150 more than his per week.

Once his apprenticeship is finished (next year) he will likely make more than I do.

He has NO ego about his salary versus mine. We have a joint household account so it doesn't matter who makes it ... it's OURS!

i dont think it really matters to us who makes more. just as long as we can pay our bills every month.

We make exactly the same, maybe a few hundred different. But I have so much more bills then he does, its like he makes more than me. And imo, fi likes to feel like he can take care of me, and I don't mind.
