Male sports, yes. I love baseball but the amout of money they ALL make is insane. The basic salary is like $250,000 a year. You can't get paid less than that. That's a lot of money and some of the players Suck. Forget about players like A-Rod that who makes $25 miilion a season for a team that sits in last place every year.
But I also have to say while I do think they are overpaid I'd rather see the players getting it then the owners. Years and years ago players got grossly underpaid and they were treated like crap. The owners used them like slaves and just counted the money that was rolling in. I don't want to see that happen again.

The only reason I don't think they are WAY over paid is because if the players didn't get it the owners would.

They are way overpaid and this comes from a huge sports fan. Especially since most of them are so uneducated they can not even complete a sentence. Before I became a teacher I use to work for the NBA. The players were required (in their contracts) to speak at local schools. I remember putting some of these very famous and well paid basketball players up in front of an auditorium full of high school students and being appalled at the slang and misuse of english that was being used. You would think with all that money they would get a tutor or something!
Also, someone like Pedro Martinez, who uses his 95 mile an hour fast ball as a weapon on the field by hitting players in the head, should be banned from playing the sport, never mind paid millions of dollars!

I enjoy sports and they are stressed (aren't we all, and don't get paid for that), but lets face it, they are entertainers and are equal with music/comedian entertainers. Do I agree with it,,,, no! But that's what it has become. I do think it's pathetic to get paid so much for a PHYSICAL job and yet they can be over weight.
I don't care if they are great at what they do, you can't tell me they'd woldn't be an even better 'all-around athelet' if they lost weight. That drives me nuts.

I think football players need to be paid more. They are on that field, running, tackling, pounding on each other over a little ball. They definatly need to be paid more. One fall the wrong way and their goes their entire career.

But aren't we the ones that are willing to pay these extra-ordinarily high prices for tickets to see these people play a 'child's game'?

I think actors are much more overpaid than sports players. Sports players put a lot of energy and work into it, and also take a great chance of injury. All while entertaining the masses

I think the salaries are appalling. Good for them...they can throw a baseball really fast...pay them $300,000! But let the people who are really making a difference in the world (teachers, non-profits) get paid crap! These athletes get everything handed to them and the majority probably can't even read on a 6th grade level. It is really just sad what is valued in our society.
