Poll: how many dresses did you try on before you found the one?

I know I already told you about my experieince but if I could give some advice it's to TAKE YOUR TIME. This is a huge decision and you should not rush yourself. It's exhausting and overwhelming and if you can spread it out over a few weekends I highly recommend it. Of course everyone does not have the luxary of a 2 year engagement like I did but if you can I say try!

Thanks! I live out of state, so it will take some planning for me to come in and go shopping. But I do plan to look at everything carefully so that I make the best decision. But, I think what will help me is that I have a sort of 'vision' for my dress, and I know the qualities that I definitely want in it. So I think that will narrow it down. But I will certainly be open to a bunch of different styles to try on at first.

My problem was that I din't realize with my skin tone I had to wear ivory not white!!!

What's your skin tone? Maybe I'll have the same problem (I'm pink and fairly pale).

20-30 You have try alot on because BOY DO THEY LOOK DIFFERENT on you, then they do on the hanger!!!

I tried on about 6 or 7...I hate special event dress shopping..I remember hating it when I was in second grade and picking out my communion dress, I remember hating it in High School when I had to pick out a prom dress...and I didn't particularly love wedding dress shopping (though I do love the dress I found )

about 50. I started to lose my mind. I kept thinking that there was 'something else' out there, and I know I missed buying a few that could have been 'the one.' in the end, I ended up just getting one I liked, looked good on, and was the right price. For me, there was no 'Oh my god! This is it!' moment.

I would suggest keeping it under 20. They start to all blend together after that anyway...

I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one who feels like they were/are losing their mind....I have tried on lots of dresses and am not sure if I will have that moment either. I couldn't agree more that they are all starting to blend. I think I am going to order the original one that I like.

Probably around 70.... at least 10 AFTER I had already ordered my gown.

Get the one you like! I wanted the 'oh my god!' moment - but I'm such an indecisive person, I don't think it would have been possible to have that! I say now that it's 'the one' because it's 'the one' I have chosen. I had my last fitting recently and got all warm and happy knowing that it was indeed 'the one' after all and I loved how it looked. Not everyone has epiphany's in the dress shops...but it does work out.

the first one i put on, i knew BUT everyone was like you have to try more!! so i tried 7 more and went back to the first ... and it's the one i'll be weraing in 94 days!!!

I tried on 7 in one store and tehn 4 in the nexxt and the last one was the one I went with it was the one I originally wanted and seen in a picture

i went to countless bridal stores, tried on countless dresses. and honestly, i never had that 'OMG!!! THIS IS THE ONE I HAVE TO GET IT!!!' moment.

there were a few dresses that i thought were VERY nice, but the price tags cooled down my love for them. i definitely didn't 'love' them enough to ignore the $$$$ part.

after awhile, all dresses start to look pretty much the same.

and finally, i simply went with a dress that i like a lot with the right price.
