Poll: How much are you spending for Bridesmaid Gifts?

I know this is a personal question, but I'm trying to determine what a good bridesmaid gift should cost around. I realize it certainly depends on circumanstances and how much I'm able to do for them but 2 of the bridesmaids are from out of town and with their dress, shoes, and hotel stay, they are spending an extreme amount of money to be part of my wedding. I know they want to do it but I'd like to do something really nice for them. Is $85.00 for each girl good?

I bought them all a set of silver-plated make up brushes in a satin case with their names embroidered. These were $17 a piece on sale. And also earrings and necklace for the wedding which came out to about $20 for the set, on sale. So total I spent $40 on each. I think that is a nice present, and it's costing me quite a lot all together. I don't think you have to spend a lot to get a nice gift.

I just have a MOH(my sister-in-law) and a flowergirl (my daughter) so I will probably spend tons of money on them. My MOH has gone above a beyond what she should have with engagement gifts, the shower, and the shower gifts and I love her a lot. She has always wanted a white gold tanzanite ring so I'm thinking about getting her that.

Hello All!!! My BM's were simply unbelievable and they all have everything, so gifts were hard for me... So I gave them bags of goodies (my mom made beautiful handled bags out of mudcloth that are gorgeous and they can use for beach stuff) Then I filled them with terry bath wraps that I had monogrammed with their nicknames in my wedding color, their bags that I had dyed with their shoes (they were gorgeous and done at Craft shoes in Commack!!!), and their favorite was their mugs!!! I handpainted a mug for each of them with different things from our lives together!! It was time consuming, but soo much fun. Let me add that I can't paint and I had never done this before!! They cried when they saw them b/c it had funny and sentimental thing from our lives, and the year wet met and where (ie xxx highschool homeroom '86). The price for the mug included the paints I used, and to have it dipped and fired in the kiln. I also bought their jewelry, but believe it or not I didn't see it until the day of the wedding!!! At the rehearsal, one of my bridesmaids said she would look for jewelry for me and I told my idea and she found it for $15 a set!!! They were PERFECT!!! God works in mysterious ways!!! Anyway I probably spent about $50pp and actually, I'm planning on giving the maid's of honor another gift (probably gold) later on, b/c they deserve it... I also believe that you don't have to spend a fortune to be thoughtful!!! Good Luck!!! Ayanna

Hi- I have seven bridesmaids (including MOH) and a flower girl. I am planning on spending $50 on each. We are paying for our wedding ourselves and that's about all we can afford. Whatever you can spend I think is great- and if I had more $$ I would get them more.

Really nice ideas!! May I ask...where did you hand paint the mugs?? I was thinking of doing something like that for my fiancee and could not find a pottery place. Thanks in advance!

Poll: How much are you spending for Bridesmaid Gifts?

The amount varied - I spent around $150 on my MOH and about $100 on the other two, and picked up the hotel for the two coming in from out of town. I tried to get something different for each, depending on their interests. One got a polished pewter frame that looked like carved flowers, because she has lots of photos in her house. We introduced her to her (now) husband, and we had a picture of the four of us taken at the wedding, which we`ll give her for the frame. Another always has beautiful fresh flowers in her house, so I got her a Waterford crystal vase. She started crying when she opened it, so I guess it was a hit. My MOH collects wine glasses, and she got a hand-blown glass goblet. I also got her a cane that was painted to match her dress, with an ivory handle, because she has MS and needs a cane to walk. I wanted her to have something that was a lovely accessory to her dress. But the real hit was the vintage reproduction Barbie Doll!!! She and I loved playing with our Barbies when we were in grade school and she loved the Solo in the Spotlight outfit from the 60`s - it`s a stretch, black lounge singer outfit - so that`s what I got her and she screamed when she opened the box. Barbie was later kidnapped (at the reheasal dinner) but later recovered, however another ransom note appeared at the wedding, but it turned out to be a hoax :-)
