My Belief:
KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID
My vote: six thirty in the evening...you would be COMPLETELY surprised about the number of folks that do not understand 'half past, quarter of, after, etc...'

I agree with the KISS method, BUT
for your theme Lisa, I kinda like the old time feel of 'half past 6 pm' it's a throw back to when people had brains and USED them.

Re: POLL: How should I say...
'six thirty in the evening' is much simpler, but I just love the formality of 'half past six o'clock' for a wedding

How did I know you were going to say that?
Right now, I have it at six-thirty in the evening.
But originally I had at half past six o'clock.
The whole card says:
'Cocktails, Dinner and Dance at........'
So it's got that old-time vibe.
But I do agree with the KISS stuff.
Very confused!

Re: POLL: How should I say...
I did 'half past six'...
This has been discussed before (quite heatedly ) but there is no 'o'clock' for the quarterly and half time denominations...'o'clock' refers to 'on the hour' or 'on the dot'.
More... Pronunciation Times of day ending in :00 minutes are typically pronounced in English as the numbered hour followed by o'clock (e.g., 10:00 ten o'clock, 2:00 two o'clock, 4:00 four o'clock etc) followed by the am or pm designator. :01 through :09 are usually pronounced as o one through o nine (though ought one through ought nine may still be in use in some Commonwealth countries). :10 through :59 are their usual number-words.

Re: POLL: How should I say...
I like half past six personally, BUT I hate to say but some people are a little slow and may not realise its 6:30 and come at 6. But then again, maybe some of those slow people will s how up on time. I told my guest to meet up at 5pm, our ceremony is at 6. People love to show up late.

'at six thirty in the evening'
I agree... they might not even look at the 'half past' part and just show up at six o'clock!

Re: POLL: How should I say...
I would do at 6:30 in the evening only because there are people like me who would totally not know what half past 6 means..
