I did 'half past six'...
This has been discussed before (quite heatedly ) but there is no 'o'clock' for the quarterly and half time denominations...'o'clock' refers to 'on the hour' or 'on the dot'.
More... Pronunciation Times of day ending in :00 minutes are typically pronounced in English as the numbered hour followed by o'clock (e.g., 10:00 ten o'clock, 2:00 two o'clock, 4:00 four o'clock etc) followed by the am or pm designator. :01 through :09 are usually pronounced as o one through o nine (though ought one through ought nine may still be in use in some Commonwealth countries). :10 through :59 are their usual number-words.
I never knew that...thanks for the learnin'!

Re: POLL: How should I say...
Somewhere on either this website or The Knot, it specifically says that invite times are to read half past six o'clock, and not six-thirty in the evening.
Personally, my invite time is half past two o'clock in the afternoon.

My Belief:
KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID
My vote: six thirty in the evening...you would be COMPLETELY surprised about the number of folks that do not understand 'half past, quarter of, after, etc...'
Unfortunately this is so true.

I agree with the KISS method, BUT
for your theme Lisa, I kinda like the old time feel of 'half past 6 pm' it's a throw back to when people had brains and USED them.
