Poll: If you couldn't have your wedding on a Saturday Night When would you?

I'm know I can't afford a Saturday night so I'm trying to decide when would be the second best thing. What do you girls think? If you have a reason please tell me so I can factor it into our decision. Thanks

We chose a Sunday night-but it's the night before Columbus day-so most of our guests have off the next day. Otherwise we would have gone for a Friday or Saturday night.

We chose Saturday afternoon because of the time of year we were having the wedding. We wanted a wedding in the fall so that we could get all the awesome foliage in our pictures so having a wedding at night could mean that we'd miss out on that since the sun sets so early. I wouldn't want a wedding on a Sunday because I'd feel bad that everyone has work the next day. I know they'd be willing to make the sacrafice, but I want everyone to be completely relaxed. JMO

I chose Friday because it's the beginning of the weekend. Either people will take off that day, or leaving early from work is not a big deal. They still have Saturday and Sunday to recuperate from tiredness (bridal party) and or drinking too much.

I chose sat or sun afternoon. I am soo sorry to be forward but a friday night is soo hard.. A lot of people would have to take off of work and it is not as easy as if you had it on the weekend that is a guests point of view

sat or sun afternoon since many people likely have to travel far.... (we chose sat afternoon) To me, Fri night is only OK if almost all the guests are locals....

im having mine on a thursday night. you have no idea what kinda discounts you get for that. why dont you check into that??

Friday night!
Then you have 2 full days to recover.
I love Friday night weddings.

Ffriday night so that you have the whole rest of the weekend to recup!

Mine was on sunday during the day. it was the day before memorial day, so people still had the next day off.
A friend of mine recently had her wedding on a friday night. I was in the bridal party - I had to take the whole day off of work, which was hard, but you know what? I actually liked that it was Friday night because then after the wedding, we still had the whole weekend.
So all the times have their own merits, just decide what is best for you.

I chose Friday night because I dont like going to weddings during the day - it doesnt have as much as a party vibe

Friday is good because usually teh CH doesnt start til 7 so people have enough time to get there after work - its not like they need the whole day off - saturday afternoons - people work

I voted and am having a sat morning wedding. It's cheaper but it's still on a sat. There is no work that day or the next day AND you can party after the wedding too!

I voted for Saturday afternoon. I love Friday night weddings, too, but I think Saturday afternoons are a little easier for people who may not be able to get off of work...

I polled a lot of people when we were deciding (we couldn't have a Saturday night either because they were all booked up by the time we started looking)...Granted I had a lot of OOT guests including almost our whole bridal party but we got more people pulling for Saturday afternoon because...
1) I've been to at least a few Friday night weddings where people were tired from working all day that they don't get get up and have fun
2)If you have it on Saturday afternoon you can continue the party as long as you want...our wedding day lasted from 5:30AM to 1:30AM and it was amazing to have that much time to celebrate w/ friends and family
3)the rehearsal (and dinner) is a consideration too...having in on a Friday before a Saturday wedding is convenient to local and OOT guests but if you have it on a Thursday it OOTers would have to take at least a day and a half off and it cuts into the week for the locals..and if you have it the week before I think it cuts off the momentum of the weekend...

Of course it is just one opinion...HTH

I think if we did not book the Saturday night, I would try to book a Sunday night over a holiday weekend where people are off on Monday from work. Ex: Memorial Day W/E, Labor Day W/E, Columbus Day W/E, President's W/E, or even the Sunday before Martin Luther King Day. Or you can look into having your wedding on Veteren's Day which is a Friday night. Not everyone, but most people are off that day.

Also look into the day before 4th of July (even if it is a Mon, Tues, etc

We chose a Sunday night but its the day before Memorial Day so most people will be off the next day. Friday weddings are difficult beacuse of your guests getting off of work to go home get ready and then make it to your cermony and reception unless you have a later start time but thats JMO
