Wow! I thought I was the only one! My parents are paying for the wedding (a very expensive one!) and I feel so bad for them! His parents were not paying for anything, did not even offer. I asked my FI if they could do anything! They have the money... They drive two BMW's for pete's sake. Anyway, they said my parents would have to ask them for help. Asking for assistance!!!! My mother put her tail between her legs and asked them to pay for the band, which they agreed to do. No rehearsal dinner!!! No e-party! Just a friggin brunch and the band. WHat is worse is that I have a younger sister my parents need to pay for and FI has a younger brother. Old rules don't apply anymore. I hope we get some cash from them for the wedding because right now, zilch! Thanks for letting me vent!

My parents are paying for mostly everything, but we have a few things to pay on our own such as limos, tipping and a couple other things. FH dad said he would give us money to pay for any extras. When we got engaged his dad asked what he had to do, I told him thr rehearsal dinner was his. We'll see. Oh yeah, FH's dad is also planning on giving us a huge chunk of money for our wedding. He wants to give us the down payment for our first house.

My parents paid for everything.. my DH's father paid for the Limos.. his Mom paid for nothing.

Seriously though. My parents are paying for the hall and my mom told me should would help out with the flowers. But we are paying for everything else including the rehersal dinner. All the 'everything else' costs more than the hall and we are paying for the honeymoon as well.

My parents are paying for the reception and the band (my dad is contracting it since he is a club musician and he will be calling in favors). FH's parents will be contributing about $5K (he thinks), but we know they are on a tight budget because his dad is on disability and his mom doesn't make much. Personally, I feel like my F-IL's did a lot for us by merely decided to move to this country 13 years ago. Had they never sacrificed, I never would have met my true love

My FILs are not able to contribute much financially, but they have said that they want to do whatever they can. FH's cousin is a pastry chef, so I think my FILs plan on giving the cake, with her help. I think they're going to host a brunch the day after the wedding, but not entirely sure....
