I don't think I am changing my name and I was just curious to see how many people were...
My biggest concern was the names of our children. I know alot of people who have given the mother's last name as the child's middle name, so the mom's name would at least be in the child's name.
What do you think about that as well?

Re: Poll -- Name Change
I will be taking his name personally. Professionally I haven't decided yet. He wants me to, but we'll see.
It really is a pain in the neck to do all of this!!!! It is worth it though, right?

I'm taking it personally, but not professionally. I definitely didn't think of it as an 'of course' matter though. For me, it came down to having kids--I know I would want to have the same last name as my children. But, I am half through my doctorate and have articles published under my maiden name, so I decided to keep my maiden name at work and for my research.

Re: Poll -- Name Change
I took his name. I did it when I had off the week between X-mas & New Year's.
I'm still having problems getting used to it, but I am so glad that I took his name. and he couldn't be more proud

I am taking his name, but I will keep my maiden name at work until I switch jobs.
He has already created an email address form me with my new last name.

Since I have a professional lic I'm going to use both hyphenate, it's going to be real long but it's allot easier for me.

I agree with this statement all the way. I never grew up waiting to change my name to my husband's, especially now that I am NOT FOND AT ALL of the way my name sounds with his.
Therefore, I am chaging my name to Gina Marie Maiden Married, no hyphen. My maiden will become sort of a secong middle name....
And no, I am not kidding you....

when we get closer to having kids we will decide whose name to use-

Re: Poll -- Name Change
FH really wants me to change my name and I have NO problem with it whatsoever. I feel like it's just what you do when you get married. But I have no objections to people who keep or hyphenate their names either. Just wanted to throw that out there.

Re: Poll -- Name Change
I'm in the process of all this name changing. I'll be going to Soc. Sec and DMV on Friday to get it all done on the personal side. I've already changed it at work. When I told him over the weekend I was going this week to legally become Mrs. R, he was beaming!
