I put the hall...b/c I'm a pretty visual person...and although I eat a lot of things I shouldn't...food doesn't stick out for me...(although I wanted to make sure food was a main priority in my own wedding)
but I think with the hall...food is closely connected...
on the other hand...music is not really any less important...since you want people up and enjoying themselves...and when times up they should say 'already?' since they were dancing their buns off...

I say Hall because I am a visual person too...Plus I am not a big food person, I do remember the desert though. FH says the food! ETA, I only remember teh music if its bad!

I voted for the hall but it's a tough choice between the music and the hall for me. I definitely notice the site but the music is what makes or breaks the party for me as a guest!

Re: poll on weddings you've been to
I put the food because of a crazy story I heard tonite where my cousin went to a wedding and it gave her stomach cramps along with something else ( i hope you understand what I meant by that, I tried to be as ungross as possible). It kind of made me nervous

The hall...although, it's of course hard not to notice if there's a problem with the food or music (e.g., champagne is undrinkable, food is cold, music is too loud, dj is cheesy, etc.)

The hall, everything can be fun, but if it's not in a beautiful surrounding, I think it loses something. Call me superficial, but you can eat chicken or dance to a dj anywhere, you can't get married 'just anywhere', so I picked hall. JMO.

Re: poll on weddings you've been to
I didnt vote b/c it was a tough one for me
I went to a wedding in 2001 where the food was horrible. FI got so sick we had to leave early and we never leave a wedding early. I dont remember the name of the hall but I sure remember how horrible the food was.
I went to another wedding where I dont remember the hall or the food, but they had a band and the band was awesome.
So sometimes its little things that I'll remember about a wedding

Re: poll on weddings you've been to
I voted for the music. I just went to a wedding last weekend and the music was fabulous. I didn't get the name of the band, but I am going to find out.
I already knew what the reception venue was like because I live a block away in Mahanttan. It was a steak house, so the meal was fabulous.
I love every wedding I go to. I know how much planning goes into the big day, so I always have as much fun as the bride and groom ... no matter what! Everyone has different priorities and different budgets... the most important thing is that your friends (or family) are getting married!!!!

Re: poll on weddings you've been to
I voted for music. To me a wedding can take place in any venue...whether it's a beautiful hall, the beach or a VFW hall. As long as the couple is happy that is all that matters.
Food is important but unless the food is really awful or really awesome I don't remember it.
The music makes or breaks a party. If the music is too loud people complain they can't talk....if there isn't enough variety people won't dance and that is what I think makes or breaks a wedding. People having a good time. If people have fun at your wedding they will remember it over someones that served a 7 course gormet meal.....IMO of course : )

Re: poll on weddings you've been to
It was a toss up between hall and music. But i guess hall first b/c when i think of anyone's wedding i think of where they had it. Then i would say music because either i danced or i didn't. I usually don't remember the food unless it was really good or really bad. There are only 2 weddings (not including mine) that i remember the food.

Re: poll on weddings you've been to
Tricky question for me. I always remember the halls. But that's not what I remember the most at any wedding. I can put a story together with every hall. For example, I can say I went to a wedding at the Crest Hollow CC. The food was good, nothing great but it tasted good and the band Sucked. Now I remembered all three but if you had to ask me what stuck in my mind the most about that wedding I would say the music. People just weren't dancing and I felt as if the night dragged because of it.
Did that make any sense?

I voted music. It is the most important thing to me. I want everyone out and having a great time and you need great music to do that OR great party people. But to me if you having the time of your life you are not really looking at the Hall or sitting down long enough to be concerned about the food (EXCEPT the cocktail hour!!!) The cocktail hour should be GREAT. I recently went to a wedding at Leonard's...It wasn't my kind of place but once we were inside the main room, it was one of the best weddings i have been too.

Re: poll on weddings you've been to
This was a very good poll. My FH and I have been discussing this, with differing opinion, since the day we got engaged and started looking. Like many ladies here, I am a visual person and my surroundings matter greatly to me and sets the mood for how I'm gonna feel about everything else during the event. He believes food is most important, but I think as long as the food is good, there are a lot more memorable things to have about a wedding. I would put DJ second.

I say hall. We went to a wedding up at Troutbeck in upstate NY and I was blown away by how beautiful it was.

Re: poll on weddings you've been to
Oddly enough ..
None of the above.
My family doesnt really care much about the hall, the food or the music. It's who saw who since how long and how the bride and groom looked and how much fun we had.
I've been to huge halls that held hundreds of family members. You really can't dress them up too much, just streamers and balloons mostly. These usually are the 'big' weddings which my family is known for. Being it's so large, food is usually VERY simple. BBQ Chicken or Beef with two sides (potato salad & beans) with Iced Tea or beer. BYOB for later. Not exactly classy by the standards of Long Island but.. none the less I remember having SOOOOOOO much fun at them! The bridal party was all done up their table lit with candles and everyone was happy.
Sometimes the band is good. Othertimes you wished for a DJ. The Mardiachi's are always great and most of my family starts to sing alone with songs they know so no one cares what the band is playing. Some really memorables had a great band, but only if you were lucky.
I guess that's what rubs me the wrong way with Long Island wedding scene. Who cares? I mean as long as Im happy and everyone has a good time, who cares what color the walls were? But I wanted (of course) mine to be different so yeah, I went the extra mile. My parents don't understand they think im throwing away money. But it is my day afterall..... and my money.

I voted for the hall. But if one of the other options you listed was exceptionally good or really bad than that is what I remember most.

Re: poll on weddings you've been to
I didn't answer because all three are intertwined.
However- I think music is VERY important. I've been to weddings that have had GREAT food but horrible music and the wedding wasn't that great.
I'd take mediocre food with an amazing band over the opposite.
The hall- I think if it's an amazing place it's a bonus- but if the party has great music & great friends- then it will be a great wedding... whether you have it at Flowerfields or the Knights of Columbus.
