Poll: Pictures before the ceremony?

Original post by JimmysBride

How many of you are doing your pics with FH before the ceremony??

ETA: We also don't want to miss our cocktail hour but we have a large gap between the ceremony and the CH during which we will do our pics.

Re: Poll: Pictures before the ceremony?

We're taking pictures beforehand for a few reasons - 1) we're getting married at our hall, and do not want to miss the cocktail hour that will immediately follow the ceremony. 2)Everyone's hair, makeup, etc. will be at their most perfect. 3) I will most likely be a nervous wreck, and seeing FH before the ceremony will help calm me down.

We are going the traditional route. My FI's first glimpse of his bride won't be until my father escorts me down the asile. We scheduled plenty of time in between for pic's.

Our ceremony is at the same place as the reception. The cocktail hour starts immediately after the ceremony. That is why we are taking pictures before.

We are taking pictures before the ceremony. For those brides who have done it in the past, they say it was the best thing they could have done. And for brides who did not do it, they say they wish they did.

I always imagined that we would go the traditional route, but we need to be practical. Our ceremony is at the reception site and we would like to enjoy the cocktail hour (and greet our guests).

SUGGESTION: if you plan on taking pictures before the ceremony, make sure your photographer is ready to photograph the moment when you first see each other.

I did this and it was terrific! We really enjoyed every minute of our wedding and it extended our day!

My FI made the decision for us. He said that he is an old fashioned guy and he wants it done the old fashioned way. The pictures are important but so is keeping the special moments of the day. He said that he is looking forward to seeing me walk down the aisle to him. I couldn't argue with that!

We're going to have plenty of time in betweent the church and reception for all the pix. We're expecting a lot of people to be staying in a local hotel, so that'll give them a lot of time to check in and stuff.

I have accepted the fact that I have to do this
I was really bummed at first but the more I thought about it I realized that this is the best option.
We are getting married at 6:30 in September so it will be dark after and we are getting married at our reception location so there is no gap between ceremony and cocktail hour.
So I am not as bummed as I was at first and I just think well at least now I will get my money's worth!
I am glad to see more people are doing this and I am not out of the norm.

I don't think I'd be able to look at my pictures and think that I wasn't technically 'married' in those pictures. My ceremony and reception are at the same place and it really bums me out that the cocktail hour is RIGHT after the ceremony...is there a way to delay it????????

Re: Poll: Pictures before the ceremony?

I am very confused! I always thought that there would be NO WAY I would take pictures beforehand. However, the more halls we look at, and the more I hear other people, it sounds like it makes more sense to do it beforehand. I don't want to miss cocktail hr (our ceremony and reception are going to be one right after the other), nor do I want the bridal party to miss cocktail hour.. FH wants to do pictures before but I am still unsure...
